Default ANyone know of this new movie with Eddie in it?

"Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" travels more familiar territory. With its thin mustaches, bitchin' Camaros, and guitar histrionics, Heavy Metal galloped onto the American stage like the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse in 1986. Director Sam Dunne, a trained anthropologist and avowed metalhead, proves to be a capable Virgil as he leads the viewer through the lower circles of the scene.

For those, like me, who know heavy metal only at a safe distance — the Quiet Riot mask was enough to scare off my 11-year-old self — the film is an education.Among the facts you'll learn: the ubiquitous devil horns hand sign was popularized by hair-metal imp Ronnie James Dio, who learned it from his Italian grandmother; the chord that puts the heavy in heavy metal is the diminished fifth, a sound so timelessly evil that it was used in the Middle Ages to summon Satan; and, depending on who you ask, the first heavy metal band was either Blue Cheer, Led Zeppelin, or Black Sabbath — although Alice Cooper graciously nominates himself. But Metal also claims more distinguished forebears: Wagner and Beethoven. The classical pedigree only sounds absurd until you see Eddie Van Halen performing a virtuoso guitar solo.

Try Google...there's a load of info under Metal: A Headbanger's Journey.

    It's even available at Amazon.

    Thanks!

It looks like maybe there is just a small part with Eddie.
They play Bach on the harpsicord and then cut nicely to Eddie playing BAch-like things on guitar in concert.

Yeah, it's from the Toronto PayPerView from ´95 if I remember correctly. I saw the movie last week, pretty good for a documentary but to tell you the truth, I did expect to see more Van Halen in there..

It is a pretty good movie, there a few parts where you can pick out pictures of early VH and the like, plus the part where they are talking about how Eddie is like Mozart. Overall a good depiction of metalheads and rockers. Although there are some bands which the director talks about that are more than a little off of their rockers, such as Gorgoroth, who with a few others burned down like six churches in Finland or somewhere like that. If you have a couple of hours to kill I would suggest giving it a try.

Giving the movie a try, not burning down the churches! Just wanted to add that.

For some reason (and one can never truly be sure of the network's true motives) VH-1 will be showing this film, this coming Saturday evening, Sept. 9th.
    Check local listings, ect.
