IMO , he just did that because each color scheme/pattern need a distinguashable name when he copyrighted it.

he just used those instead of , black and white striped charvel strat 1978, black and yellow charvel strat 1979 tour , and black and white charvel phase 2 and kramer 5150 red white stripe pattern.
