11/16/04 - VAN HALEN in Boise, Idaho. Changed my life forever

8/8/06 - Sammy Hagar and the Wabos w/Michael Anthony in Boise, Idaho. Sam and Mike still kick ass

No live clip from the Balance era fails to give me chills. I'm a Roth guy, but the Balance tour was easily my alltime favorite. Ed's tone was absolutely sick and the band was tighter than ever musically.

I hate watching these videos, because the band was headed in the right direction before the shit hit the fan...
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. I have the Pensacola DVD from that tour but I still enjoyed watching this.

What a shame they couldn't build off of that album. They sounded fantastic.

This is the first time I've said this, but Ed's playing was 10 times better live 10 years ago, than it is in the studio today. That video was great. The Lederman performance of Not Enough is the same way. It's really sad. It's not even close. I don't know if he can practice, sober up, and get back to that point, but I sure hope so.

    Default Crazy Riffs

I don't have Balance so I'm not that familair with this tune, but the verse sure sounds a lot like a Temptations song from the Sixties.

The riffs/noodling between the verses don't really help propel the song and seem like they could have easily been shed. I'm wondering whether this was the beginning of "sing over what I deliver - no changes."

Dude - No offense, but if you're no familiar with Balance, then you really can't comment on this performance. Balance was the ultimate Van Halen with Sammy album. Aftershock one of its finest moments....This performance was tight as hell and close to the studio version.

Do yourself a favor and pick up the album...you'll be glad you did. It won't be long before you're whistling Aftershock.

Uhh, no. There is a reason the song works, its called tension and release. The "riffs/noodling between the verses" is called song structure. Leave them out as you suggest, and there would be no song.

Besides that, for a Sam era tune, this thing absolutely rocks.

    well no.

i agree with the previous post.

the song doesn't work in totality. it starts off interesting, always liked al's drums, but as the poster said it just doesn't fly.

now, to be fair, a lot worse shit is thrown out there all the time, but frankly this just bored me to death after about 25 seconds.

The song that really smoked from that show was Amsterdam. JEEZZ! Eddie just ripped on that one. The solo and outro solo were just awesome -- great tone too!
