Need a good restaurant in San Diego
Need some help from my VH SoCali brothers and sisters. Next month, our family is going out to San Diego, planning to do the Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and Sea World, also some beach and touristy things. Can anybody recommend a nice restaurant out there in SD? While there, my wife will be turning 40, would like to take her for a special dinner. The kids don't like Mexican, otherwise anything goes. We've never been there, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you're looking for a fine dining classy place, you can't beat George's at the Cove in La Jolla. You'll need reservations at George's. Donovan's Steak & Chop House is also in La Jolla, good choice. A real unique place is the 94th Aero Squadron. It is based during the time of WWI and has tons of military memorabilia and the food is excellent. You HAVE to get their French Onion soup!
That's just a few places. The Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego has tons of good resturants within walking distance of eachother. Also, go to our local papers website SignOnSanDiego.com
Scroll down to the entertainment section on the left side of the page. It's packed with info on places to go in town. Hope you have a great time here!Webmaster/Graphic Artist

Achievements:
Spaghetti Factory in the Gaslamp District-good for the kids, good food.
Nice beef joints might be the Chart House on Coronado Island or Ruth's Chris in the Gaslamp district, or the 5 star joint at the Hotel Del.
Actually, there's about a million fine eating options in the Gaslamp district downtown. Just take a walk around, they got it all.

Lots to choose from!
There are a lot of great places to eat in San Diego! Here are some of my faves:
-For steak, my favorite is Fleming's. There's one in La Jolla and one in the historic Gaslamp Quarter right by the ballpark & convention center.
-You can't beat George's in La Jolla for overall location & quality. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. George's also has an Ocean Terrace with a more casual atmosphere and menu. Think of it as 5* dining at 3* prices.
-The Marine Room is a unique spot in La Jolla where the waves actually break against the back windows of the restaurant! You can truly have oceanfront dining at this joint. Very formal, tho. You can check out the history on the walls as you enter the restaurant, which features pictures of windows broken in by heavy waves which flooded the restaurant as recently as the 1980's.
-Roy's in La Jolla is still one of my all-time favorites. Roy's originally started on Maui and has since come to the mainland. They feature polynesian seafood with a flare including sushi & sashimi. The chocolate souffle is to die for.
Hope this helps! Makes me hungry writing about it!

Ditch the kids, give the wife divorce papers for her b-day gift, and head to....
Typhoon Saloon-1165 Garnet Avenue San Diego, CA 92109
1 lb burger
1 lb fries
64 oz beer
If you finish it get your picture on the wall and its free.
After eating hang around to see Metal Skool and hit on 21 yr old fine ass Pac Beach girls...
It all starts with, "Honey, I have something special for your birthday... "

Just go to Tim's house and have him throw a frozen pizza in the oven for you. You can entertain the kids with his TV.
((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

And, like Tim said, give The Gaslamp Quarter a try. Tons of great places to eat there."Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."
"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."
