For the past week and a half, Salt Lake has been dealing with the disappearance of, search for, and subsequent discovery of the murdered/raped body of a 5-year-old girl, Destiny Norton and arrest of her alleged assailant. At this point, most of us are of the opinion that he should be released immediately to the general population of the prison with the intercom announcement: "Hey guys! This is the scum that killed that little 5-yr.old and THEN raped her dead body! For the next 10 minutes, all guards will turn their backs and the cameras are going off, due to a "power outage."

The fact is, all child molesters should be sent to prison for life, no parole, whether they kill their victim or not.

Man, the replies are harsh to this thread. Myself having a 3+ month old boy is disgusted. He deserves what he will get in prison, most likely becoming Bubba's bitch then later getting knifed by a guy doing life.

If that ever happened to my boy I don't know what I would do. One side of me would want to take the man's life, but the other says someone in prison would do it for me.

He'll get his cumupance(sp?) when he gets sent to prison. Most prisoners hate child molesters/rapists. He won't last a year.

In this case (and cases similiar), if the guilt is proven beyond all doubt, well...killing the fucker would simply be too light of a punishment.

Why give him a quick and easy way out for what he did? We execute him, and then it's over...that quick. Where is the punishment in that?

If I were a killer of children, or anyone for that matter, I'd be hoping you pro-capital punishment conservatives did execute me, because it would over quickly with minimal pain. Sounds like a great deal to me.

These threads are always interesting. First off, I'm a dad of two and I have a three year old girl. If I caught the guy hurting her, he'd probably not be enjoying fresh oxygen for long.

However, for even trash like this, would there ever be a point where he suffered enough in prison? At what point would we give this guy a respite from the inmate-inflicted punishment he'll surely experience? And if we say 'never' have WE lost a little of our humanity in our quest for vengeance/justice? Just a thought....
