OLP MM1 vs Wolfgang Special
I'm in the market for a new guitar. I've been checking out the Wolfgang Specials on ebay and stumbled across the OLP MM1. I know about the quality and sound of the Wolfie but know nothing about this OLP model, other than it's a hell of alot cheaper. Have any of you guys played one? What do you think? Would I be better off shelling out the extra cash for the Wolfie.
Thanks for the input.

I got an olp as my first guitar now I got 4 of them I dig em. The stock pickups arent too bad you can swap them out, and you could put a floyd rose tremolo on them too, I think there pretty sweet for 200 bucks. Theres alot of people on here that mod them and they look great.

I got an OLP a couple of months ago...I really like it alot. Mine is black with the "ivory" binding. Like solo-ed the stock pickups are decent enough if you are a novice. I am so so I don't mind buying a cheaper non american guitar. As far as I know the Wolfies are american made with better wood and hardware. I guess you have to take into account budget vs. quality, but like I said, I love mine to death and was the best 130 bucks I have ever spent on ebay. Enjoy which ever one you get.

I was in the same boat as you.
I wanted a Wolfie, but the OLP was soooo much cheaper. After digging around, and deciding I didn't just want to settle for what I could afford.. I threw myself a curve ball and ended up buying a 1992 EBMM! Best $1400 I ever spent.
My vote: spend the $$$ and get what you know is a quality guitar. How good can an OLP be for $150?Sings like a bird. Rocks like a pig.

I looked at both, but went with a Wolfgang.
Very much a superior guitar.
Yes more money, but even if you swap pickups ($200) plus put in a Flyod ($300) you've spent how much? ...and still have an inferior guitar. IMHOOne noticeable difference between Judas Priest and Metallica...
...Judas Priest only has one gay guy in the band.

Ed Roman is supposedly doing some cool mods with the OLPs. Check it out:

Although, I've heard conflicting opinons on that guy and his work.http://www.myspace.com/pennydreadfulnj

You just can't beat the quality guitar you'd get with the Wolf Special, and you can grab one on ebay for just over 500."It's always a Catch-22 situation. They hate you if you're the same, and they hate you if you're different."

Thanks so much for the input. I was always leaning towards the Wolfie, but just needed some more info on the OLP. I would much rather spend the couple hundred bucks more and know that I'm getting quality. Thanks so much.
