Oh gosh. I was as bad. Anybody remember Media Play? oof. I was there every week. I wish I had put that dough into my retirement account. Couple of years ago I did a brutal culling of the CD's. I just had to . Went thru my book collection too.

that's a funky looking one - almost looks as if you could also use it for home plate in a pickup baseball game!

only on disc one - looking forward to hearing the demos and live stuff and screwed up single version of "Detroit Rock City". Expensive, but i had a bunch of discover points saved up for the inevitable London Town and Back To The Egg box sets, but since they don't seem to be imminently inevitable, I used them here and so didn't pay a dime. Lots of cool stuff in the box.

Amazon was a bit too efficient, though. I preordered knowing it was coming out on the 19th and also knowing I was going to be out of town - figuring it wouldn't ship until the 19th and I'd be back on the 20th (actually in the wee hours of the 21st) and it would get delivered some time this week. So imagine my chagrin when i got a notification that it was out for delivery on Friday! Fortunately it was still on my doorstep (along with a new phone that work had ordered for me that also arrived on Friday!) when i got home.

Disc two - damn does this disappoint me - not in a KISS sense, but in a Van Halen sense. Gene has ten demos on the disc, and in those demos I could hear the songs they would ultimately be recorded as (“True Confessions”, “Burning Up With Fever”, “Man Of A Thousand Faces”, or songs they would become (“Bad, Bad Lovin’” = “Calling Dr. Love”, “Rock ‘N Rolls Royce” = “Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em”) and songs that seemed to be the genesis for other songs (“Night Boy” had the heavy riff from “Flaming Youth”, I think “Star” was “Almost Human”) and knowing that Van Halen has similar material available but has yet to release disappoints me. I had never heard this, but I have heard a lot of the Van Halen demos so I know how cool it is to hear stuff like “Voodoo Queen” and “Last Night” and there are folks that have never heard them so it would be cool for them as well and yet Van Halen has not taken that opportunity to celebrate how they became the biggest and the best for awhile

…and disc three lists only 22 songs but when I put it in the CD player it displayed 24…

And the “Detroit Rock City” single is just as jarring as I recall it being when I heard it on the jukebox at the amusement park over 36 years ago - makes “Running With The Devil” on the Best Of sound like someone sneezed…

    John - WONSAPONATIME

Paul - Run Devil Run Forgot how great this is. David Gilmour and Mick Green on guitar, Ian Paice on drums

    George - Cloud Nine

Ringo - Sorry Ringo... but I do have a few of your LP's in the basement.

The Beatles - Let It Be... Naked I could only take two days of this in the car, since the only tunes I can stand are Get Back, For You Blue, Two Of Us, One After 909 & I Me Mine... the rest... Ugh!
