A Lyric Thread/Forum?

I've been kicking this around for a few days, the concept of a place that linkers could offer their own lyrics/poems. I dunno...I guess it could go in the Musicians Forum, maybe get "stickied", however...

On the plus side, most of the folk I know say that when it comes to songwriting, coming up with words is often the biggest stumbling block, as most of us can throw a few riffs together and call it a song (Christ, some bands have done just that and called it a career! ). It would be neat to offer lyrics, either for self expression or a hope of future collaboration.

They could be copyrighted using the "poor-man's" copyright, ie: mailing them to one's self and not opening the package.

The downside to the thread/forum is that some fuckers might go and outright appropriate (steal) the words for their own uses without crediting the writer, not to mention the fact that we could be subjected to the at times ponderous musings of the certifiably "talent-free", which is not only painful to read yet can also be mindnumbing, making one feel stupider for simply reading them. (Poetry is one thing, bad poetry can be lethal. )

I'd go with this. I do a ton of writing in my spare time and really consider it a hobby of mine. Always wanted to share it with the Linkers sooner or later. Nice idea, Craig!

The copyright issue does bother me a little, there's nothing stopping anyone from stealing your work. Unless yes you sent them to yourself, then you do have a poor man's copyright which is perfectly legal.
