EDDIE VAN HALEN Debuts New Music - July 21, 2006
Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen debuted some new music at the House of Petals in Los Angeles this week.
Van Halen played Wednesday night (July 19) jamming with Patrick Leonard (on keyboards). Leonard is best known for his songwriting and production work with MADONNA.
Undercover is told that Eddie and Patrick performed what is best described as an "impromptu jam of rock fusion."
Eddie, a personal friend of owner Joey House, agreed to make the rare appearance because he agrees the company philosophy of unity and beauty through flowers.
The invite-only audience included many celebrities, musicians, movie and TV stars.
Meanwhile, Undercover has learned that a Sammy Hagar / David Lee Roth / VAN HALEN tour is once again being mooted as possible. No confirmed dates have been locked in but all parties are known to be considering the possibility of the arrangement.

Interesting. all parties- meaning a tour with both singers? or at least one, right...
That's cool, a small private audience gets to hear Eddie jam out. I wish I could've been there.- obviously he is very popular with the whole LA scene/celebrities, no matter how much of a recluse we make him out to be.

I were going to "wager" on what Ed will be doing in the near and foreseable future, I would have to say something along the lines of working with new people altogether under a band new name or as "edward van halen." Again, if I were a betting man, I'd say it will build on the VH3 sound. I think, beyond having few beers and laughing it up over old times once in a very rare while, his interest in Sam or Dave or Brown Sounds or anything like that is pretty much waned to zero.

If they actually tour with Roth and I see the show in person I can finally die in peace.
I will pick out the tombstoe and plot right before the show. Bury me after it.
I really don't see this happening but anything is possible.

I'd rather Ed do a small venue tour playing instrumentals like Jeff Beck is currently doing (he plays the Hard Rock here in September) rather than deal with the weight of a major tour with the twin headed hydra of Hagar and Dave.
If the 2004 tour was too much for him to deal with, imagine how poor, fragile Eddie will deal with this monster."The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."George Bernard Shaw

I think the problem they had with the 04 tour was they spent too much time together. I watched the Meadowlands boot last night from the 04 tour and it seemed as if Ed and Sam and Ed and Mike were getting along quit well. Ed kissed Sam on the cheek a few times and Mikey as well, along with the usual goofing around and shit. Maybe if they got back together for a new album and tour they should just take their time touring. Play for 3 weeks and take 2-3 weeks off in between. Maybe then the tension wouldn't be like it was at the end of the 04 tour spending 5 months together and away from your home.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

JAZZ ODYSSEY!! That's EXACTLY what I thought too.
I just hope the collective VH fans are not the guy in that scene in the background giving the "thumbs down" sign. How open-minded do I have to be before my brains start spilling out?

I wouldn't put anything past Van Halen. Obviously there is some sort of talk, (Maybe thats all it is) that someone at Blabbermouth has been privey to. Hey it may all never work out but tell me that it isn't damn exciting to think about the possibility. I will get my hopes up and if they get dashed so be it! At least its some good news!

Hmm very interesting.
Personally I would love to see them go out on a postiive note like this. Representing all the Dave purists and the Red heads in one show.
Then once the tour is over they call it a day and move on to new music with new musicians and vocalists.
However, if (and I stress IF) this tour ever materializes, I will be holding out hope for a new VH cd containing 10 new songs (5 with DLR and 5 with Sammy).
Time will tell, stay tuned..."Question is, not does love exist, but when she leaves, where she goes. I got a feeling she don't know either. Wait like the wind, watch where she blows..."
