Alexi Laiho effect.. can somebody identify?

This guy is great! go to the second video and about 3:30 in there is a yellow colored stomp box on top of the marshall behind the second guitar player.

Can somebody identify it? i know its kinda far away

My best guess is either a Boss SD-1 or OD-1 used on this particular vid as a slight boost but they definitely don't use these in their usual setup. They usually have Lee Jackson pre amps and VHT power amps, no pedals.

well thats unfortunate, because hes a really great player.

He is a great player but he definately doesn't top the level he thinks he does.

Edited: oh on topic, it probably is boss overdrive, but it's just it - overdrive. It doesn't really 'flavour' the tone.
