Looks like Nuno is playing with Rihanna at the super bowl:

He is on that small video in the link rehearsing.

Still crickets with any new music from Extreme or even Nuno solo stuff.

Rihanna is also going on a stadium tour in 2023 and I would not be surprised at all if Mr. Bettencourt joins her.

It's just to bad for Extreme much like Van Halen and Ed, Nuno is irreplaceable. No Nuno, no Extreme. Any other band would have found a new guitarist by now but Extreme can't replace him he's one of a kind.

My gut tells me it's Nuno holding everything up with Extreme and the new album. Gary,Pat,Kevin would have had the new album out years ago.

I guess we will see if this is just a one off show and Nuno asked to do it and she agreed to it.

I was being a sarcastic pissy fan. It's cool that he'll be performing at the Super Bowl though I guess.

She must pay really well. I will look for Nuno at the halftime show, but I wish it was with Extreme.

I agree but for him it's about the paycheck. She does pay really well it's how he got his nice LA man cave close to the Hollywood sign. It wasn't just the MTW's royalty checks, Washburn deal, Atlantis Ent. He earned that shit.

Cool. I didn't catch that but yeah it's cool he is playing with her if it's just for the super bowl only but I have a feeling there is more to this since she has an upcoming tour this year.

Even if he does go on tour with her in 2023 as for Extreme they can release the album whenever the fuck they want to. There is no special time to put it out. It's not like it's gonna hit Taylor Swift numbers in sales, lol.

If they can tour for a 20 plus year old album like they did with Pornograffitti any new album from them will still be an improvement over their current nostalgia band status sadly. It will still be their new album a year or two from now if they want to tour for it. That's why I don't understand Nuno's mindset if we release it we want to come play it for you. Release it first and than go play it live when you want. It will still be the new album.

It's about the money. Vai would play live for Britney if she offered him a nice paycheck to. Musically though yeah it makes no sense and he is wasting his talent but maybe he does actually enjoy it.

It pays the bills. I remmeber when grunge happened I think one of the Warrant guitarists started to work in IT because he had to make money. Nuno has done everything that he can do to cement himself as Nuno. He isn't going to have a More than Words moment. He isn't going to be interviewed non stop for Guitar magazines. He isn't going to play arenas with Extreme. He isn't going to top being up therer at the Freddy Mercury tribute. He peaked.

Now its life. If he can live comfortably by playing with Rihanna ok that's ok by me. Now of course I want an Extreme album or something but if I could live with Eddie Van Halen's recording absence I can live without Nuno's as well

I think adding some guitar work to an act who will be playing stadiums is probably more helpful than playing one off small gigs. Taylor Swift's guitar player is a huge Eddie and plays EVH gear. Adds a rock element to her shows.

Extreme in September opened up for Aerosmith at Fenway Park. That counts as arenas. If he wants to go and tour with Rihanna again fine but get the fucking Extreme album out.

All musical artists peak at some point in their career but it helps to make new music. Nuno hasn't released any new studio material since Extreme's 2008 album. That's not going to help much with playing arenas and being interviewed non stop for guitar mags.

When your job is to entertain people and you are not releasing new material to entertain them you are not doing your job properly.

Yeah Extreme will always be known as the More Than Words band by the mainstream and the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert will always be a career highlight for all of them. He's still an entertainer, hey Nuno please entertain me put a new song out.
