There is no way a label today would ever release that song as a single. It did get a video and CD single. The song rocks though. Extreme does what they want though always have. Their debut though is the most hair metal sounding of their whole catalog. Other than that track some gems on it though like Play With Me, Kid Ego, Watching, Waiting, Mutha, Rock A Bye, Bye and Smoke Signals and Flesh and Blood. Good album.

What I don't get about Nuno is I know you want to play it live and with the pandemic obviously tough sell right now. Just release the album though and when the time comes when bands can tour again it will still be a new album and the fans will be familiar with the songs. If it's in the can, put it out.
Fans showed up for the Pornograffitti anniversary live shows they will show up for a tour in support of the new album when bands can tour again. It's his product, his music so he controls it but the fans want to hear some new music. Saudades De Rock came out in 2008, like 13 years ago. You were touring with Rihanna, very little musical output from you as a musician since 2008. Release it!
Thanks for posting! He gave good reasons though.

Nuno says in this new interview, the Pandemic is the reason the new Extreme album is not released yet. He said they didn't feel comfortable going around promoting their new album with people dying from Coronavirus.

I agree. Knowing there is a ready to go album if they don't get it out sometime this year that's going to be a huge bummer.
I think it has more to do with not having a label to release it and with the pandemic labels have been shut down and are finally reopening again with the vaccine.

What I don't get is why they can't release one f**king song from the new album. It's called a single.

In 1994 they released a "There Is No God" CD ep with two unreleased tracks well before the new album came out in 1995 because they changed drummers and reworked the album. With the internet now no excuse to not have a new song out. 1 f**king song I am talking about.

Just frustrating. Nuno is very stubborn but it's his music.

I totally get that but it's going to be years before this sh*t gets any better. With the vaccine out he really has no excuse to not get this album out sometime this year.

This album has to be really good if he's acting this way imo.

If two of the greatest live acts can release studio material during this pandemic, AC/DC and Bruce Springsteen, then surely Extreme can release their album.
    Bring it on I say.
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

They should release the new one now and get started on a second one while still in lockdown.

I wish they would film the making of one too.

Love this idea. They've always been under appreciated and show up on most 'one hit wonder lists' - but many casual radio listeners would be stunned to know how many songs they know of theirs. Add to this these 'what are they up to now' segments seem to be decent business (I really enjoyed the Go Go's one this summer and the Anvil one from a few years ago)....I bet they'd make enough to pay for production of the new record -and it'd be a helluva way to launch it....

I think Nuno wants to make us wait 15 years for a new Extreme album this time. From Waiting For The Punchline to Saudades De Rock it was a 13 year span.

From Saudades De Rock to new album we are at a 13 year span now.

Seriously what is this dude smoking to put a new album out every decade plus. Life is to short for that.

I agree release the new album and get started on a quicker followup. It's insane to make fans wait that length of time for new material.

    That's Nuno for you.

They haven't made a bad album yet so it's working apparently.

They could add a making of DVD to the new album when it comes out. I doubt they do it though there was an inside look on MTV at III Sides making of but it was mostly them goofing around. This new album will hit streaming, CD and limited Vinyl is my best guess when it comes out.

I really want Take US Alive to hit Blu-ray, it's one of their better live performances and my DVD is worn out.

You would think that Nuno would have maybe learned a lesson from Ed's passing about WASTING TIME. I get where he's coming from with the points he made in the interview, but NONE OF THAT SHIT WILL MATTER, if God forbid something should happen to him or one of the other band members. And while they're certainly not over the hill, they definitely ain't no spring chickens either. I know I'm being selfish as a huge fan of theirs, but 13 fucking years between new albums is just fucking ridiculous, just like it was for VH between VH3 and ADKOT.
"One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne

"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

"A lot of bands mature, which means they get square; they start delivering messages. Hey, you got a message, use Western Union." -DLR

Going to be the exception here but I think we need to remember we are simply fans. We are only impacted by a release of an album and or tour when we get the product. We get instant gratification or possibly dissatisfaction with the results of a band We may get a few hours of euphoria by seeing them on tour. So that is it for our involvement. We don't have to deal with being separated from family or home while on tour. We don't have to deal with the results of disrupting our now normal life which isn't that of a actively touring band. We don't have to deal with the personalities day after day. Radio shows, podcasts, engineers, etc We simply get a product, listen to it maybe once or one thousand times and go to a show

Its their life, Nuno in his late 50's is a different guy than 24. Same with Pat and Gary. They live in different states. Pat used to raise Llama's or Alpaca's. Whatever energy they put into a project has to be done their way. Not our way. Just like us ripping Woflgang for not putting out an album last year. Due to personal issues. Just like VH not touring. Due to personal issues. Plus Nuno has spent the better part of the last decade as touring guitarist for Rihanna. He had a day job.

Plus this is different than VH with wasted time. They are friends or a lot friendlier with each other than VH. They may not feel the need to do the pushups of being an active band to get together.

I get we as fans want product but we also have to remember its their life. Not ours. They have their reasons. They are financially impacted by their decisions.

All that said, at least give us a snippet :-)

Good points all around, we are just fans and they call the shots.

However if they find a good label put the album out and tour for it when this shit gets better. Let the fans get familiar with the new material. If you can do a Pornograffitti Anniversary tour you can tour for what could be a 1 or 2 year old new album when they can tour live again. it will still be a new album.

Well the Rihanna tour delayed this album a bit but this habit of one new album every 13 years for Extreme is fucking ridiculous. I think if they put the new album out this year it will be in late summer or fall.

Once they find a label though there is no excuse in the world to not release 1 fucking single especially if you have a forthcoming album done.

Extreme on vinyl for albums. As far as I know.

    Extreme - debut
    Pornograffitti
    III Sides To Every Story
    Pornograffitti Live 25th anniversary.

I would love to see Waiting For The Punchline and Saudades De Rock come onto vinyl as well as their upcoming but delayed due to pandemic new album.
Waiting For The Punchline is the one I want on vinyl the most.

For WFTP they did release Hip Today as a single on vinyl with the cool fashion head guy.

I have most of their stuff on vinyl but really want WFTP and SDR and the Take Us Alive Boston live album on vinyl to.

I collect Aerosmith, Kiss, Van Halen and Extreme stuff on vinyl so yes please rerelease and put new stuff out. The more the merrier.
