Warning: Death By K.F.C.
As Americans, we really don't pay much attention at times to what we shovel down our throats. Due to constraints of time, we often simply purchase and devour whatever is cheap and most importantly, available quickly.
However, think twice before plunking down a few bucks on the newest "creation" from KFC. You may have seen the ads for the KFC Famous Bowls as they are called, consisting of a pile of potatoe (or rice) with corn, chicken, some gravy and covered with cheese (in my house, chefmom called this "left-overs").
Well...according to the KFC web site, the potato one weighs in at 690 calories and 31 grams of fat. The rice based one is a mere 770 calories with 25 grams of fat.
Oddly reminiscent of that Burger King Breakfast Sandwich from about a year ago, the one that came with a paramedic along with the eggs, cheese, sausage and ham.
www.Kfc.com"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."George Bernard Shaw

I think the KFC Famous Bowls are a stupid idea. However, the 2-piece, all white, original recipe meal with biscuits, baked beans, and corn-on-the-cob are TO DIE FOR.

Can't say I've ever had KFC.
Then again I hate fried chicken, so I doubt I ever will.

Never ate KFC? I think they put something in their food that makes it addicting. Kinda like that Super Size Me movie said about McDonalds. Sure is yummy stuff if a bit expensive tho.

But neither the fat-grams, nor the calories, are out of line with what any American who is remotely active should consume in one mid-day or late-day meal. Most people (except myself) consume almost zero fat during breakfast.
Are you referring to the "farm animal" US RDA food pyramid and recommendations, which are high on sugar, and low on protein and fat?
My maintenance level is about 2500 calories, but I find that's a bit low compared to other active 30-somethings.
Isn't pizza more of a problem? I can't think of many males who consume less than 4 or 5 slices of that, and you're running about 1500 calories there, with a**loads of "bad" cholesterol.
