Took my kids to their first concert

My kids are huge fans of a band called Taking Back Sunday. They've been trying to talk me into taking them to a concert for some time and I finally gave in. I was afraind that they were some EMO band, but they assured me they weren't. Turns out they we're right, only saw maybe half a dozen EMO kids. Mostly normal looking kids in cargo shorts.

Anyhow, I'm not real current on rock music. (needless to say, I'm on this site) but I've heard this TBS music before and let's just say I'm not a big fan. First band was The Subways from England and they sucked. Next band was Head Automatica and they sucked. Then Angels & Airwaves with the former Blink 182 guy. They sucked also. They played about 30 minutes with about 30 minutes of this guy just wandering the stage talking dumb shit.

The grand finale was TBS and let me just say, while I'm still not a fan of the music, these guys are damn good performers. They were a real tight band, well rehearsed and moved seamlessly from one song to the next. Not a whole lot of bullshit between songs like the A&A guy. The lead singer is a hell of a performer who can damn sure work a crowd (eventhough I don't particularly care for his voice).

One cool thing was the in between sets they would play VH on the PA system. Heard Panama, Jump, WCTBL that I can remember.

Anyhow don't know if anyone's seen TBS, but they're woth checking out if only for the performance.

I really don't like these guys, probably because my friend's are obsessed. However, their guitarist has always stated Eddie Van Halen was one of his main idols, which is pretty cool, since most emo/sissy punk bands like TBS would never admit to being influenced by someone like EVH, instead say they made up their style.

I think these guy's were pretty unique. First they looked like a bunch of Johnny Cash wanna bes. All dressed in black suites. And when they hit the stage, the atmosphere just changed. It got electric. Like I said if they were EMO, the EMO kids have dumped them cause there were none there. Of course it was Charlotte NC. EMO probably not as big there, but the band smiled and interacted with the crowd as well as having a high energy performance.

The reason you only saw a few emo kids is because TBS is actually Screamo. Which is a sub category for screaming emo crap. I actually listen to a couple bands from this sub form of crap.

Screamo! LOL that's pretty good.

I'm with you, didn't care much for the vocals, but the lead singer made up for it with a good performance, and the band was tight. I do wish they'd played their damn guitars. Doesn't anyone solo anymore.

If you wanna know screamo, listen to Hawthorne Heights.

I've heard my kids talk of them. Don't know the music. For some reason they once liked them but now they don't. Don't know why though. My son is 16 and daughter 14. They both like VH though. That's our next concert if they ever hit the road again. It was part of our agreement for me taking them to this concert. We did have a blast @ TBS other than the aforementioned three suck bands. I took five teenagers and still had a good time.

Hawthorne Heights used to be pretty good,
but then they just sold their souls to MTV and now all these preppy kids are running around acting like they're "hardcore" since they listen to them.
Ugh!!!
If your kids don't listen to Avenged Sevenfold,
they're automatically awesome.

they're automatically awesome.

Checked with both of them Avenged Sevenfold gets two thumbs down.
