I cant believe we are not getting any reviews from the Roth shows. Is he changing the set around ? He has played about 5 shows already and nothing is posted about them.If this was Sammys page there would be posts and links to video, pictures etc...
Is anyone actually attending the shows ? Were are all my fellow Rothaholics ?
Looks like Sammys fans have 1 up on us..

    I noticed that also..... : (
I can't remember which comedian said it, about the current state of Van Halen, but he said right now, Van Halen is like a really hot playboy playmate with a prosthetic leg.

    BRING BACK THE CLASSIC LINEUP!

I can't even have an opinion on ANYTHING anymore unless it's exactly what everyone else thinks...oh and if I do it means I HATE this album, and hope it fails. Man some of you can fuck off...seriously. - BRETT

"You make music for people. Otherwise, just play in your closet. And how do you reach the most people? By giving them the band that they know. To do it any other way would be selfish.” - EVH, June 19, 2015 Billboard Magazine

    Dude:

I hate to stir up crap but I am just stating facts. There are no posts or anything in regards to Daves shows. Sammy gets alot of press and actually played my area last week. I passed on him because of my loyalty to Dave and classic VH. I am actually regretting not going to see Hagar. His other side set list looks great. I would have paid to hear, Summer Nights, 5150 and Good Enough.

I have heard that ticket sales are not going very well for Roth. Starting to think that nobody cares and this may be the end of Dave.
Maybe I will have to go over to the Army and read up on Dave but things dont look to encouraging.

It shouldn't matter how many people come to the show, as long as you have a good time.

Some people are hung up on ticket sales and sellouts and all that, but why does it matter?

Well you have to worry about those numbers because if the guy does not get the people in he loses money. No money equals cancelled shows and eventually no performances. I dont care if its sold out just as long as he plays my area every year or so.
From reading other peoples posts Dave seems to just leave geographical areas off the tour.

Roth gets a guarentee no matter how many tickets are sold. That's why sometimes the promoters will pull the plug on a show where they may lose money. Because if the show goes on, Dave gets his.

Sorry, I know I'm about a week and half late, but I saw the Diamond One on June 30 in Muskegon MI. It was, well, DAVE!! I did post a review on the apparently now defunct diamonddavidleeroth.com, so here goes....the show was great IMO, but like I've said before when your favorite entertainer is singing your favorite songs its pretty hard to be disappointed. I saw him last in fall of '04, and there were a couple of setlist changes, but for the most part it was the same:

    HFT
    California Girls
    Beautiful girls
    Jaime's Cryin
    Just Like Paradise
    Somebody Get Me a Doctor
    Just a Gigolo
    Dance the Night Away
    Everybody Wants Some
    Panama
    Runnin With the Devil
    Unchained
    Ice Cream Man
    Ain't Talkin Bout Love
    Cradle Will Rock
Jump (encore w/1984 intro & Dave sword routine)
    You Really got me

Think I remembered them all, someone correct me if I left a tune out. Noticeable changes were no Goin Crazy, Yankee Rose or Mean Street. He's played those every other time I've seen him, but Jaime's Cryin was a new one from last time I saw him. Like I said, great show, typical Dave, great outdoor venue in Muskegon, too!! $23 bucks, general admission and I was right up front dead center screaming my head off. Typical Dave, so if you like him (which I of course do) you'll love the show. Brian Young was awesme as usual too!!

No worries, I wasn't talking about you, but there's some out there that are really hung up about Van Halen and most former members selling out their shows and pointing out when they have really low numbers.........but sometimes those folks are silent.

I choose to enjoy the show, because that's what it's all about ain't it?

Couldn't agree more, Greenpaw! If you go to the show and have a great time nothing else should matter whatsoever, and who cares if anyone else "would or wouldn't" have had a good time if they weren't even there in the first place?

California Girls as the second song? That's a momentum killer to me.
If I don't respond to you it means I have you on ignore, which means you are a douchenozzle.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Agreed....Roth needs to take out California Girls and Gigalo. Those songs are 100% crap.
He needs to throw in Yankee Rose, Drop in the bucket and something from the DLR band cd. Anything besides Slam Dunk.

I've seen Roth about five or six times solo, and each time Yankee Rose has fucking sucked. I just don't think Brian does a good job on that song.

I second the addition of Drop In The Bucket, or Slam Dunk. Maybe even Blacklight, or Lose The Dress.

It is a momentum killer. Dave manages to get the momentum back, but fuck. I wish he'd kill it from the setlist too. In fact, I'd prefer him to kill all the solo stuff he does now, and replace it with different solo stuff.

Vai didn't do a good job on that song either. Especially live.
