See everyone was so sure Dave was back! Everyone wanted an announcement so bad, complaining about the silence, and now that it has finally come we wish it never did. We find out Dave last spoke with VH in July and did 3 songs, and jammed with the band. Everyone got pissed at VH waiting for an announcement, and now we find out that there really wasn't anything to announce, unless there is and DLR doesn't know about it. But I'm not here to complain, I am gonna remain optimistic about this, and still believe an album comes out end of summer, early fall. But best of all, we all have something new to complain about besides the silence!!

What's even scarier is Dweezil said there were more songs than that done. Even Dweez is in the dark. Looks like box set time.

I'd rather have an idea what's going on than be completely in the dark, like Eddie and the boys are behind a one-way mirror laughing at us all.

Finally, I just said, 'Fuck it!' and let her out of my room!" - David Lee Roth

One thing to remember. Dave said he met up with Eddie about a year ago, so April 2000, and took off in July 2000. So, three songs written in about three months. That's really very productive...

Yeah I'm sure they were done before though, and Dave just needed to put lyrics to them. Eddie probably has hundereds of songs he has written that have never been released, and some never recorded. Some might have vocals to them from the past singers, and some are probably just instrumental for now anyways, until someome puts lyrics to them. I'm sure Eddie will always write new music, no matter what happen. I just hope a lot more of it gets released. And now we wait for Glenn's box set remark...

There's nothing wrong with preparation, but the writing shouldn't be taking a month per song.
Am I wrong here? Taking a month to write a song seems like they are just dicking around.

I'm with you there Glenn, that seems pretty slow. Especially considering the band had 4 years to write the music to these songs, and when Dave comes back, they still only get 3 done in 3 months.

Well, if Eddie is working on their 'Dark Side of the Moon' or their '5th Symphony', so to speak, it could take that long I guess. How does Eric Johnson take 6 years to record a cd? Boston anyone? 8 years for a record with variations of ONE tune appearing 3 times?!?!
Damn, anything is possible at this point.
And, uh, Glenn?--you neglected to comment on your box set. Don't bark at me...I didn't name ya.

If you think one month per song is optomistic, look at at it this way. They've only written 3 now, so if the album is going to have 10 tracks (just pulling that out of the air), when they get back together again, it's going to take 7 more months of writing to finish.
Maybe at that pace, they can release their new album to coincide with their Rock and Roll hall of fame induction.
