    a Lil' help

HELP, long story short, playing pool, few beers ( actually many beers ). I have several guitars hanging on the wall, my EBMM dropped & cracked the backside housing ( the black part ) from the serial number plate to the neck, is this a repairiable item or do I need to shoot my friend? and help would be mucho appreciated....

If I read you right, I'm certain the housing cover is replaceable... of course, it will be off an Axis. I'd shoot your friend anyway. Think if he cracked the neck!!!! (Take a good look for a hairline fracture)

If I understand the original question correctly, (and I might be wrong) but is the body cracked from the neck plate up to the neck? (that's what it sounds like to me ... since the serial number is normally stamped into the neck plate).

if that is the case, there could be a few things here:
    1) It could just be a surface crack in the finish.
If this happened, a quality luthier should be able to sand out the area and apply some new finish at a reasonable cost. it probably won't be cheap to have it done well (read: professionally) but it would be worth it.

    2) The wood may have cracked
In this case, only a quality luthier can fix this and its unlikely that the structural integrity of the wood will ever be the same if it truely is cracked. A good luthier may have a decent repair method but in my mind, if its cracked in such a way that the integrity of the body wood is in question, there might not be a lot anyone can do to repair it except replace it.

Probably time to call around & find a good luthier contact.
Sorry to hear about this, though.

    What HipCat5 said.

Keep you guitar in it's case in the future when "friends" are around.

Post a picture if you can. Your description of the damage is not enough to really assess the problem. Pictures may or may not help but, could possibly go a long way in determining the solution. In the event that the crack can be opened up and you can get plenty of glue in it the repair will be as strong as any part of the guitar.
