DLR AT THE SUMMERFEST

HEY VH FRIENDS, NAMES RICH CORBETT AND THIS IS MY FIRST THREAD. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW HOW AWESOME ROTH WAS AT THE FEST. I GOT LUCKY AND MANAGED TO BUY BACKSTAGE PASSES FROM A GUY WHO DIDNT WANT THEM AND WON THEM ON THE RADIO. I WAS ON A PLATFORM ELEVATED ABOVE THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STAGE. BEFORE THE SHOW DAVE CAME UP AND MET US AND WAS SUPER COOL. NO B.S. HE THEN WENT DOWN AND PUT ON THE BEST SHOW IVE SEEN HIM IN IN YEARS. LAST YEAR I THOUGHT HE WAS LAME. TALKED TO MUCH AND CAME OUT LATE. THIS YEAR NOTHIN BUT JAMMIN. HE DID THE SAME LIST THAT HAS BEEN POSTED HERE ALREADY BUT DID IT WITH AUTHORITY. ALL THE JUMPS AND KICKS AND HIS OUTFITS WERE JUST RIGHT NOT TOO MUCH BUT COOL. THE CROWD WAS HUGE AND THEY LOVED HIM. I TOOK A BUNCH OF PICTURES AND WILL TRY TO POST THEM WHEN THEY COME BACK. ALL I CAN SAY IS IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO SEE HIM DO IT! NO BLUEGRASS JUST ROCK. THE BAND WAS GREAT AND THE ENERGY WAS INTENSE. I LIVE IN VEGAS AND HAVE SIX TICKETS TO THE HOB CANT WAIT. I ALSO HAVE HAGAR TICKETS ON STAGE FOR MILWAUKEE AND VEGAS. ROCK ON GUYS AND CHECK THESE SHOWS OUT AND ENJOY YOUR SUMMER THE RIGHT WAY!

He may have traded his long blond mane for an exaggerated TV anchorman haircut, but that didn't stop David Lee Roth from rocking the crowd at the Miller Lite Oasis with a lively set of familiar hits, including "Hot for Teacher" and the singalong "California Girls."

While the former Van Halen front man was a bit drowned out by overpowering guitars early in his set, neither he nor the crowd seemed to notice, and Roth continued to plow through each fast-paced jam, soaking up the screams of fans, which seemed to feed his frantic, dizzying spins onstage.

Dressed in a bizarre but fitting - and certainly tight-fitting - sparkling black jumpsuit, Roth didn't spare an ounce of energy, giving all he had to the crazed crowd, even on some of the slightly slower songs, including "Runnin' With the Devil."
