    Sammy Hagar/Return Of The Wish??

Anyone have any idea where this song first appeared? I could swear I had this CD at one time but can't recall who did it, what the CD was, etc. I'm thinkin it was on a Jesse Harms one? Not exactly sure. Any help?

It was actually written for For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and then they were going put it on Balance, but it never happened. It was originally called The Wish.

Except for lead stuff, I don't remember it being too hard. I used to play along with the cd all the time.

    Oh, and Hi Chet!

Didn't Sammy sing this with Eddie on keys at the Bay Area Music Awards, or some other local Cali thing back in the early 1990s? Maybe you have it on a bootleg?

Sam and Ed did a performance at the Bridge Benefit in 93, I think it was in November and I think they did:

The Love-Just Sam, then Ed came out and they did:

    Love Walks In
    Right now

Just Ed on piano, very cool to hear, then:

Spanish Fly and Best of Both Worlds with Ed on an acoustic..then I think they came out adn did sound of silence with Simon and Garfunkle....the wish has never been performed but the original music was, if I remember right the music that turned out to be Once on VHIII

Personally I think both Returning Of The Wish and Once are great songs.

I believe "The wish" was a different song. It does not sound like "Return" I watched an interview where he said "Returning of the Wish" was the last song written on Red VooDoo. He said he listend to the album and something was missing. He was feeling a "Heart Felt" emotion to bring the record together so he and David L. wrote the song in his basement one night and ended up making it on the album in time for release.

Right, thanks for the correction. I never heard that version, but the version of The Love on Red Voodoo was the first dance for my wife and I at our wedding. Such great lyrics.

The Love is OK on red voodoo but try finding "Ever Since you Came" from HSAS..it's totally awsome, way better..not really a wedding version but once you hear it you'll understand what i mean. There were a ton of great hsas songs that didn't make the cd and this is one of em...it blends into another song on the boots I have but I don't remember the name..maybe What should neve be...something like that.

The tune I want to hear is "Out Of The Ether"... killer title!!!! That and "Eat Thy Neighbor" w/ Dave circa 1985.
Sings like a bird. Rocks like a pig.

I have the HSAS album, but it's been so long since I've had a record player to play it with, I can't remember what that song sounds like!!! I do remember reading that The Love was originally an HSAS song.
