Got any advice or helpful tips? I just got a job as a driver on thursday and im actually excited about it but still foggy in some areas. I start tomorrow or tuesday, not sure yet, but it seems like a pretty easy job. Yay or Nay?

I had to explain to the manager that I have A.D.D and he was completley understanding of it cuz apparently his room-mate has it also. For those who dont know what it is...its like having your mind change channels all of the time and you cant focus on anything for a long time. In my case, Im horrible at taking directions so I have to ask people to repeat directions in order for me to get it done.

But yeah, I was just wondering if any of you had any good advice that I could use

It's hard on your car too. Wear and tear. Don't let you insurance know that you are driving because your premium will double. And don't get a ticket or in an accident. Good luck!

When 2 young females answer the door wearing only underwear explain that they have no money to pay for the pizza...but welcome you in for a 'slice'....take the offer and pay for that damn pizza yourself......I'm sure you won't regret it..hehe

Its really not that difficult, I mean you can play guitar right?

the most important thing about delivering is knowing where you are going before leaving the store. write down directions if you are uncertain, and carry a cell phone because you will need one.

I could probably write a few books and movies all about the pizza biz.. Ive been a driver/manager/partner full-time for like 7 years, so Ive pretty much seen it all.

You'd better read your policy before following this advice.

Been delivering pizza for about 6 years now. Here are some tips I would give a new driver:
    1. No matter how late a delivery is, ABSOLUTELY follow the rules of the road and obey all traffic rules.
    2. Wait 'til you're in your car to cuss out a customer that stiffs you on a tip. I made that mistake once and the customer called my manager. I got written up.
    3. Make sure that you have the complete, correct order--pizzas, sides, drinks, credit card slips, etc--before you leave. Nothing more frustrating than getting to a delivery site, only to realize that you forgot something.
    4. Be willing to learn how to do all of the jobs at the store. Nothing makes a manager happier than a driver that can take orders, make pizzas, help with the cleaning, etc. A happy manager = a manager that will be more willing to be flexible with you when you need more hours, less hours, etc.
    5. A little trick I discovered that pays off is to get a cheap bag of doggie treats and carry a few in a baggie. When you come to a house with a dog, ask the owner if you can give the dog a treat. I've found this to be very endearing and has resulted in good tips.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

Just stay away from those Beef-flavored ExLax dog treats...
