on the radio
they said you have a better chance of seeing pink flyod reunite instead of van halen. all goes back to eddie screwing mike on the 04 tour and not giving him equal cut of the money. they said mike should have gotten his fair share.
van halen is back. "what you think is nothing might be something after all"

You know what?
FUCK MIKE! Sure his harmonies were key to the "classic" VH sound, but its 2006 and that same classic sound is just that, CLASSIC as in "in the past".
But Mike doesn't write the music or the lyrics, so he doesn't really deserve equal pay. He just shows up, plays the bass and sings. He is basically a hired helper who can sing.
I am getting tired over Sam & Mike, Mike & Sam,,,,, etc, etc.
Its like listening to 2 school girls having a conversation over who is better, Timberlake or Rob Thomas. There both fags. ( I mean that in a comical way)
One thing I can say is that Dave is atleast now talking about the future and that he is hopeful, both Mike & Sam are the ones that are living in the past now. But I guess atleast their bills are getting paid.Last edited by Eddymon; 06.19.06 at 02:53 PM.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

Dave is talking about the future. But I feel that IF, big if, there were to be a CVH reunion. Dave would insist on Mike being included. It could not be CVH without Mike.
I have heard or read Dave say Mike is a rock he is a foundation. He is as stable a person as there is. You don't get much more praise than that. NO Mike no reunion.Sometimes you feel like a nut...Sometimes you feel like a screw!

Eddymon,
Your a chiachi.
Dave isn't talkin about crap. When was the last time he wrote a song? Why is he playing songs from the 70's and 80's only?
Who is on tour supporting a NEW album!! Not Dave...

without mike you would not have the same sound, not saying they have the same as the dlr years but mike is a big part of vh just as dave was and sammy was. any reunion would have to be eddie, alex, mike and dave or sammy
van halen is back. "what you think is nothing might be something after all"

When I see Alex's equal contribution to music or lyrics, I'll say that Mike doesn't deserve his fair share of the money. I get so tired of the same boring bullshit with Ed, spewing about how the songwriting seems to be the only thing that's important. We all know he writes all the music. We all know whoever is singing does the lyrics and melody (mostly, except for Cherone I guess), but there is still the recording, touring, press, bullshit, etc. that goes into being a band. Unless someone is giving less than 100%, they deserve a fair share of any concert revenue. Besides, Mike put more into the '04 tour than Ed did.

They all contribute 25%
C'mon guys how many times have you seen the interviews where Ed's always saying "Mike is the subsonic base to all of our music, Al feeds off of that and I feed off of Al." I mean every time they go on tour which is few and far between, Ed says the same line over and over again. I mean let's face it, Ed is still pissed because Sammy bought out the Cabo thing and ran with and is makin' a freakin war pension off of it. And since Mike hangs out with Sammy, well there you go! It's not like Ed's hurtin' for money unless Val smacked him with a pretty hefty child support!
"No... that's not a microphone in my pants, I'm just happy to see ya!"

On the tour, everyone is performing pretty much equally, and they should all get equal pay. Obviously, that's not the way things always work out, as demonstrated in '04. I do appreciate Mike's sacrifice... one has to at least admit that putting the audience in front of oneself is impressive. He may have already had the cash, but he is still being slighted in his honor as being a 'part of the band.' How many other rock egos would have put up with that?
I disagree with your last sentence, however. I'm one of the seemingly few people on this board who feel that the show I went to two years ago was great, Ed played well... maybe not his best, but that's probably another arguement in itselfLast edited by silverklyph; 06.19.06 at 07:35 PM.

Regardless, how about Eddie just show some fucking respect to someone that stood by him for a long ass time! what the fuck is the point? you know damn well that there is no reasonable/valid reason to shit on Mikey! whats the point of switching bass players...do you think all of a sudden Eddie is going to let some new bass player become heavily involved in the music/lyrics...please! I also love how you just "write off" Mikeys harmonies as if it was some minor factor to the band success....thats like saying Daves persona/flare was a minor contribution to their success! The success came from the perfect 'team/sound" they formed...change one and it could have changed it all!
You could argue Mikey and Alex deserved more of a cut than any of them...they werent the ones that caused all of the B.S. and "down time"!!!
One final thought on your DLR note...WOW your a sucker!!! Dave has been saying that a reunion in "inevitable" since he left!...and thats because he knows if he doesnt talk about vh...NO ONE would listen to him! nothing he says is based on facts...stop getting sucked in! Mentioning DLR in the same breathe as "the future" is the funniest thing Ive heard in a long time! Have you heard him sing/talk lately?? he has been a laughing stock and a punch line for a long time....Eddie, PLEASE dont EVER let him add that element to Van Halen!
