Default Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo

Ok, does anyone outside of the Southern California area know and appreciate these guys? I remember growing up on these guys from a very young age (one of the benifits of having parents who were in their early 30's and listened to KROQ I guess ). I still love hearing them and really wish that they would reunite (like another band I know). When my wife and I were married back in October, the only song my mom requested to hear at the reception was Dead Man's Party. Anyways, some movies that some of their songs have appeared in are:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High - Goodbye-Goodbye

    Weird Science - Weird Science

Anybody have any Oingo Boingo stories to share or know of any other movies that the bands music has been in? Not counting Danny Elfman of course.

One of the great, underrated bands of all time. Those guys just OOZE talent. Too bad the Hollywood Film Juggernaught ate Danny Elfman alive...

And what about Steve Bartek? What's he up to these days?

Boingo rocked, man. Saw them several times in my youth, missed the farewell tour, damn it. Did you ever hit the Halloween bash they threw for a few years at Irvine Meadows? Talk about a party. Seriously outta hand. Also saw them on the tour when X (with John Doe) opened for 'em, just great.

Who do You Want to Be, Only a Lad, Just Another Day, Private Life, Gratitude, Gray Matter, Nothing to Fear, Violent Love, Wild Sex....so many classic trax.

Elfman makes a lot more dough these days with his movie soundtracking. But if these guys reunited, I'd be there with bells on.

Taken from his website: Steve Bartek is best known for his role as composer, producer and conductor for film and television (including Novocaine, The Crew, The Tick and Desperate Housewives), orchestrator for dozens of popular film scores (including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish and Spider-Man) and as the lead guitarist, co-arranger and co-producer of the former rock band Oingo Boingo. Steve is currently hitting the L.A. area with his jazz/fusion/rock ensemble Relative, and is a regular performer on the Battlestar Galactica series scores.

Ya know, for one dumb reason or another, I never made it to the Halloween shows. I had two chances though. I did get me a KROQ sticker from the show though.

I have one of their albums on cassette, my dad would play it when I was younger....I think it's called "Boingo." Love it.
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."
-MikeL, showing off that sharp wit of his.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

-Derrick Jensen, "What We Leave Behind"

"You know what's weird to me is Christians who are against the death penalty. After all, if it weren't for the death penalty, we wouldn't celebrate Easter!"

    -the late, great, Bill Hicks

I'd give a testicle for them to do just one Halloween show again at the IMA here in SoCal.
