I hate being negative. Here I thought we'd all be partying hard by now to some new VH tunes. Not to be, at least at this point. IF the recent rumors are true about things not working out with Dave, I think the band is done. They needed something kickass to make the rest of the music work take notice again after VH3 and two years of silence. I fear they will put out a box set from Dave, Sammy, maybe the unrelaesed Gary stuff and then fold the tent. I would welcome the unreleased music, but miss "what could have been". Like I said, I hate being negative, but until we here something, I don't see any positive signs.

Think about it like this :

1) Silence is the key. You said that until you hear anything, you don't see any positive signs? Well, to me, Dave not talking speakes volumes.

He knows that the fans believe he's back with VH.

VH knows that the fans think Dave's back, too.

If they were to announce that he wasn't back, then they'd all be guilty of lying to us, by leading us on, you dig?

They'd lose ALL credibility and the majority of the fanbase for pulling a lame-ass stunt like that.

2) Dave would be the first one to crow about not being in VH - If he weren't in.

And VH would love to crow about him not BEING in - If he weren't in.

(I base this on their old attitudes, back when they weren't getting along. They liked to take little digs. )

3) Remasters. Why are only the first six albums being remastered? (And there's no need for EUAS to take advantage of this question. LOL. ) I think it's another healthy sign of Dave being in, and WB's way of hinting at it.

4) Rumors. Rumors are like opinions. And opinions are like assholes.

Everybogoy's got them.

5) Lawsuits. I think leagl issues are hampering the band, as well. I wouldn't be surprised if that shithead Ray Daniels is in the thick of things. I doubt they parted ways with him amicably. (Hell, they can't split nicely from a lead singer, you think a manager is going to fade away without a fight, when so much money is on the table?)

All in all, the only thing I'm bummed about is the time we have to wait for the new album. Other than that...

No worries. Dave's in.

Woody- Don't beleive anything till an announcement is made. I've herd some of the logic posted in this forum and frankly it may just be wishful thinking. VH does have other choices if they don't go with Roth. I still say they should go with a No-name "young" guy that can cover the Roth years from a vocal style well and has good stage presence. Someone who's voice is fresh. The only thing stopping them from moving forward is a "Kick ass" new CD. No matter who they go with if the CD sucks it in-fact may be the end of VH as we know them.

Vince, I don't know if it's wishful thinking, or just the ability to put 2 and 2 together, but from what we have in front of us, I can't get how anyone could think that Dave ISN'T in VH.

There's nothing conclusive that states he's in, but there's nothing concret saying he isn't, you know? There's more "evidence" that Dave's in, than not.

And a "No-name" singer would be the end, really. They tried it with Gary, it didn't work. (I know he wasn't "No-name," since he was in Extreme, but you get my point. )

Downinflames-Don't you think it's extreamley weird that there are no tabloid pictures of Roth going into 5150? Or even some small degree of concrete proof. We really have absolutly no proof other than these rumors. Unless these guys are recording at some underground studio in the middle of nowhere I just can't see something like this being kept under raps for this long. Everything in this country leaks because of the Poperozie press, why not this?? It's not inconceiveable but certainly improbable.

I agree that it's weird not to hear or see much, but tabloids could give a rat's ass about Van Halen - Unless they fake another "Ed and Valerie : Going to divorce!!" story.

I think that VH is really guarded about everything because of what went down in 1996 and because they know this is basically the last great shot at making things work.

They could be going into 5150 in the middle of the night, for all we know, and that's why there are no pics.

But just the silence from both Dave and VH - not including WB - is what leads me to strongly believe that he's back.
