They just interviewed Mikey on the phone and the gist of the conversation was:

Question: What's happening with VH?
Answer: Well the last tour didn't end on such a good note. I would have loved for it to be longer but the truth is it was pretty tough to get through at times. I not one to say never given the history of the band but right now, Van Halen is Alex and Eddie Van Halen. Basically, Sam and I were signed on for the last tour. So I don't want to give anyone false hope but there is nothing going on with VH.

He did talk that the JD bass is not being brought out on this tour and that when they toured in 2004, he was mixing JD and tequila and he's not doing that any more.

Ya know, I've been trying to stay out of these conversations that always result after one of these interviews is posted. But I have a question...

Why do these DJ's keep asking the same question about VH? They all know the answer. Mike and Sam have been giving the same answer for the past 6 months if not longer.

Well, keep in mind that the casual fan doesn't stop by here every day to read every interview the guys do. A good interviewer is going to ask the questions that the majority of his listeners want to know. That's one reason the same questions keep popping up.

And frankly, Mike has just now started to answer some of the big questions.

So yes, it gets old for us hardcore fans, but it's what the public wants that matters.

Ya know, I'm really getting fed up with Mike and Sam. They are just as responsible as Eddie and Alex for all the fuckedupness in VH land. People here love to blame Eddie, calling him a prick and all sorts of other shit. Has anyone ever wondered what exactly Mike and Sam did for Eddie to be so pissed off at them? Sam keeps bad-mouthing Eddie and saying how close he is to Alex and how he would love to have Alex as his brother. Well, Alex doesn't really seem to give a fuck if Sam is in the band or not. I wonder why? Watch that video on Youtube about the Sam n Dave tour. What godawful pricks Sam and Dave are. I wouldn't work with those guys either if I was Eddie. I've said it before on this site and I'll say it again: I am on Eddie's side here. I don't think he is nearly as fucked up as people say he is, or as he appears to be.

And the next thing everyone will bitch about is how Mike is always airing his dirty laundry. As you can clearly see, it's not that Sam is going around looking for someone with a mic and a cassette so he can slam the Drunk and the Hermit.

And what's the deal with the Chesney video? Everyone is jumping up and down, enthusiastic that Ed and Alex actually emerged from their spider holes. Sorry, but once again, Ed looked and acted wasted.

All I have to say is from what I've heard it's not Michael and Sammy who stay wasted 24/7. I think Eddie's drinking on the last tour made Sammy say he wasn't working with him again unless he got his drinking problem in check. I know almost everyone here is very loyal and supported of Eddie and that's great to a point. But denying that your idol needs help for his substance abuse problem isn't helping anything!

Dave and Sammy are both primadonnas! As far as Eddie on Howard Sten in 1998- I remembered listening, then watching.- nothing out of the ordinary to me. He was quiet, like everyone that knows him, describes him to be.- that plus he was interviewed very early in the morning- no one will sound their best then.

Dave no longer has anything to be a primadonna about. As for Sammy, I know a few people who've met him and they raved about how nice and talkative he was. Is he a little arrogant? Yes to be sure, but aren't most celebrities?

Yea, man. That interview was taped like 6AM, wasn't it? And they didn't even tell EVH that they were taping when he went in the studio, so that's why he was such a goof. I thought he did fine though. I don't really know many musicians that I'd call "normal." EVH is no exception.

you cant be this stupid!! what gives you any indication that Mikey could possibly be the "bad guy" in the fractured state of the band??!!

once again, lets recap who has quit/been fired/or walked out of Ed's life over the past 20yrs...Dave, Sam, Dave, Val, Mikey, Sam! any questions?? Hopefully Alex will be next...Dualing Drums on Sam's tour would be the shit!..and maybe then Ed will finally wake the fuck up!
