Dave Lombardo is back - you can hear the insane drumming. Dude's by far the best metal drummer that ever was. You can never tell what the guy's gonna play. No one gets this creative with tempos above 200bpm.
New album is named "Christ Illusion."
One of the song is named "Jihad."
This ought to grab a few headlines...Little Dreamer

Yeah, that jihad song is supposed to be looking at things through the eyes of the militant islamic groups, to see what they are thinking type of thing. I think that's bs, a band trying to rationalize the murder of thousands of Americans. I really like Slayer, but the idea of that song makes me sorry I spent the $50 for my ticket to the Unholy Alliance tour. However, I'm really going for CoB, so that's just the nature of the beast I guess.

My friend, that's really dumb. So do you think you should go out and kill Anthony Hopkins?
He played a serial killer in "Silence of the Lambs," after all. You could also do in any guy who played Hitler on TV. It's art, it's not like they're launching a political party to endorse terrorists, they're just writing a song.
Bottom line is that in the song "Jihad," Slayer tells of 9/11 from the terrorist perspective, but not one ever said they were out to make the terrorists LOOK GOOD. I think they'll probably show them as insane fanatics. Slayer made a lot of songs about various murderers and serial killers. It actually makes perfect sense for them to cover 9/11, a bloody mass murder if there ever was one.
Kinda sad to see some people apparently in favor of Soviet-style censorship, all in the name of 'freedom," of course.Little Dreamer

I'm all for free speech, but I don't have to support what they're speaking about. I said I don't support that song, and I no longer support Slayer as a result. They will no longer receive any money from me, and that is that. If you think it's a good idea, good for you, that's your opinion. And your actor analogy, may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. How is someone who is paid to portray a character anything near someone writing a song w/lyrics describing the justification of the murder of THOUSANDS of Americans in the eyes of another human being? They can write all the songs they want about the murder of Americans, go ahead, but I don't support it, and I never will. You say I'm Soviet like...I beg you, please point out to me, where in any of my posts in this thread, did I say they shouldn't be allowed to write and play that song?

I don't see how writing a song is different than painting a picture. To me a lot of bands like Slayer are in their lyrics pretty simillar to moviemakers that make movies like Friday the 13th, Helloween XII, etc
If the point of their song is to justify 9/11 i would agree with you, but they never said it was what they're doing. They're not justifying anything. Just like "Silence of the Lambs" isn't justifying serial killing.Little Dreamer

yea i dont think slayer is saying that they justify the 9/11 attacks its just a song thats like saying the judas priest song really did kill that kid its not possible its music they tried to "justify" hitler with angel of death did that bother anyone here?but hey you don't have to support slayer its really no big deal only one person means shit.

I don't think the band is trying to justify 9/11, but the song is supposed to justify 9/11 through the eyes of the extremists, and either way, I don't support that. I don't see a reason to discuss 9/11 in a song where rationalizations are supposedly being made through the eyes of the doer, whether the band agrees or not, because 9/11 is still such a touchy subject for so many Americans, myself included, and there's no justifying it, fictional or non. Also, RockGod, I'm not the only one who thinks this. I know of at least one sponsor that has pulled sponsorship from the Unholy Alliance tour because of this. I'm not saying anyone else should feel this way though, it's just my opinion of this.

So a female reporter chose not to publish an article about a rock star whom she hardly knew, but his bandmate and one time best friend wrote all about his demons in his autobiography? Got it.
