2008 Camaro featured in upcoming Transformers movie!


Not sure if this belongs here or not, but here goes...

Call me a geek, but I'm a fan of the 80's cartoon and toy line, the Transformers. Paramount and Dreamworks are producing a live action Transformers movie (executive producer Steven Spielberg), due out in July 2007. Word from director Micahel Bay and producer Don Murphy is that GM cars will play a major role in the film. Some rumors include a Hummer and even a 2009 GTO. But here are some photos of one confirmed GM vehicle: a 2008 Camaro.

The story from the movie apparently is that an Autobot named Bumblebee (who was originally a VW Beetle in the cartoon) starts off as a 2nd gen Camaro. He gets destroyed, and rebuilt as a 2008 Camaro.

Lots of this is rumors and speculation, but you can see the photos for yourself. As a Transformers fan, I'm happy that this movie is being made. As a GM fanatic, I'm thrilled that we might get to see a 2008 Camaro featured in a big budget summer blockbuster next year.

Seems like a big commitment for a car that has not been given the official greenlight, huh?

Im hoping they do it right too because anything like this is doomed if it isnt done the right way. Nice to see that they got spielberg but im kind of curious about who the director is. If its the guy who did the hulk, this movie is fucked

Michael Bay is directing.(Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, The Rock and Bad Boys 1 and 2.) So it could be equally fucked.

Ronnie Sperling Boards Transformers

The Hollywood Reporter says Ronnie Sperling has joined the Transformers cast:

Comedian Ronnie Sperling has joined the cast of DreamWorks-Paramount's "Transformers: The Movie." Appearing alongside Bernie Mac, Josh Duhamel and Jon Voight, Sperling will play a lead scientist in the movie based on the 1980s Hasbro toy line. He can be seen in the Nickelodeon movie "Zoey 101: Spring Break-Up." Sperling is repped by Stage 9 Talent and K.S.A.

Paramount's DreamWorks is planning a July 4, 2007 release.

The official website for the United States Air Force has published a new article on the Transformers filming that took place at Holloman Air Force Base. Here's a clip:

The professionalism of Airmen at Holloman also came into play, Lieutenant Hodge said, not to mention one special item: the only operational F-117 wing. The proximity of the CV-22 Osprey at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque was also a plus because the film will feature both aircraft.

"The F-117s will be pictured prominently in the movie, both as static background and taxiing aircraft," said Lieutenant Hodge, who has been a fan of Transformers since he was a child. "The CV-22 Osprey is scheduled to make its feature film debut in this movie, along with the F-22 Raptor."

Also featured in the film will be the A-10 Thunderbolt II, AC-130 and C-130 Hercules, C-17 Globemaster III, MH-53 Pave Low, HH-60 Pave Hawk, MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle and Air Force One. The filming of the F-22, C-17, Predator and Air Force One will be done at another location.

Hell, the F-117 and F-22 in a movie together is definatley worth seeing, especially in a transformers movie. Im kind of curious to know what the Nighthawk and Raptor transformations will look like
