Wow. Though he kinda hemmed and hawed for a few seconds, there some very insightful comments from Mike about the state of Van Halen.
Basically, "Fuck you, Ed and Al. I'm tired of sitting on my ass."
Good for you, Mike."Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

Mike said "it could be over, but never say never". Basically he said they hoped the reunion would last longer than it did in 2004, but Ed and Al went home and him and Sammy still wanted to go out and play.
Sammy said "Don't mistake this for a Van Halen show, because it's not." He talked about Van Halen's huge legacy, and that they weren't going to go out and embarass the VH legacy because they were planning on tearing up these new songs with respect to that legacy. Nobody on the show so far has ripped on anyone...so far.

I just tuned in, and they said they were going to play a clip from a new song off the new album, called "half way" and they ended up playing it, and it was half way to memphis, only a little twangy-er. What's up with that?

The only new songs they played clips of were "One Sip" and "Mexico". They played "Let Me Take You There" in its entirity, as well as "One Way To Rock" and "Serious JuJu". I logged on about 15 minutes into the show, and haven't heard "Halfway To Memphis" yet.

Mexico sounded like it might have some potential. However there are at least 3 cover songs on the CD (I Love this Bar, Rainy Day Women & Let Me Take You There) and one song that is a rework of a previous Sammy Hagar song. So that's a little disappointing.Last edited by RKVH5150; 05.10.06 at 10:13 PM.

I only managed to tune into a few minutes, right around they were taking phone calls. A guy asked Sammy about the state of his tequila business and he went on to describe (as we've heard before) that he had not really intended to get into the bar and tequila businesses but rather that the original concept for Cabo Wabo was for him to have a place to hangout and jam whilst down in Mexico. Since he's always been a tequila fan he decided to get his own brand going for the cantina and then it just kind of took off from there.
He later went on to add that the success that Cabo Wabo tequila has brought him allows him to "self-sponsor" his solo shows. As opposed to having a big corporate sponsor like many other big tours would have, he's been able to more or less finance his tours through the tequila business. That in turn allows him to offer tickets at cheap prices, much less than what you'd have to pay for a 'normal' concert.
I also caught a story about Sammy's maid in CSL. Apparently she makes up fantastic fresh salsa for Sammy & family every day to flavour their meals etc... the other day he caught the maid marinating some chicken with (you guessed it..) MAD ANTHONY'S HOT SAUCE!!!! Not sure if it was just a plug for Mikey or a genuine story but either way, the way he told it was really hilarious.
Wasn't able to catch any comments regarding VH....We Belong, in a world that MUST be strong!

Sounds like it was pretty interesting.
No surprise on Mike's comment on the status of VH. We come to expect it now.Remember the Heroes - 9/11/01
