Sammy Hagar Postpones Annual Bash To Help Mexican Hurricane Victims

Sammy Hagar's annual Cabo Wabo Mexican Meltdown birthday party and concerts, originally set for October 12-14, have been pushed back until next spring due to the effects of Hurricane Juliette on Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

"The situation is tough down there. There are a lot of people affected," said Hagar. "The ocean is full of refrigerators, mattresses, personal stuff, and there's no water or electricity."

To help out the locals, Hagar and his band have gone down to Cabo San Lucas each night, and take donations at the door. We'll flyer all the neighborhoods in town to let people know, and then each day at noon we'll bring in water and food on trucks and give it out to the local families," Hagar said.

He's also invited the acts that were supposed to share the bill with him this year--Nickelback, Godsmack, and former Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell--to come back in the spring and play the gig when it's rescheduled.

The Cabo Wabo Mexican Meltdown is named after the tequila Hagar created to sell at his Cabo Wabo Cantina. It proved so popular that he now imports it to the U.S., and it's been recognized as one of the best tequilas in the world.
