The new album...

I think when the new album does come, it's going to be a pretty joyful one...a real celebration of life...VH isn't a complaint rock type of group, but I think we are going to get one of the best VH albums ever out of this whole thing...

If they end up putting one out, I agree. I think you'll see lots of sides to this album though. I bet there will be some anger and dark stuff too.

I guess this requires assuming that we ever get another album. I hope we do, but as we've been finding out lately, you never know.

I don't think there's any way of assuming what mood will be dominant on any new album from Van Halen. It's understandable to assume that this crises of health will cause Eddie to write positive music. But maybe not. Here's a guy who has faced cancer, which I'd bet caused him to face the thoughts of leaving his son behind. And I'd also wager that it has caused him to look back at his own father dying when Eddie was only in his early 30's. This could cause Eddie to really look inwards and create very deep, somber music.

Or he could write 12 songs featuring the Bavarian Cheese Whistle. [img]smilies/wink.gif[/img]

Bottom line is, we don't really know Eddie, or how his personal life will affect his writing. Not to mention, who the singer (and co-writer) is will affect things also.

As I wrote yesterday I really think there are alot of positives going on right now and obviously Ed's health is a the top.But I also felt a real positive sign coming from Dave,Mike at NAMM, even Val suggesting she liked VAN-ROTH better.All the signs are there,this will happen,stay positive people and keep giving our total support.As for the mood of the album, I think totally kick ass van halen sound,concept everything will be just flat out fuckin' van halen.These guys have grown musically,personally,spiritualy whatever but i think it will be different in alot of ways but like i said totally Eddie and Dave ----Don't get much better!!And I really believe they know how the fans are feeling, they've always been a very fan friendly band and give there best to the fans, so ya this seems out of character for them but hey this is someones life and well being that everyone of us truly care about or we wouldn't be on this damn p/c every day trying to find what's up.I just try not to read between all the lines and figure out everything and just let it happen, because when it does run for your lives it will be awsome and worth the wait.Peace

Actually, it would be really neat if the album featured music written all along in the process, kind of like a cathargic (is that a word) trip to hell and back.

I really think Ed, Al and Mike have been stock-piling songs in the wake of Eddie's cancer situation for the past year and a half. Much like Queen intended to do before Freddie died.
