After hearing about Sammy's upcoming "big announcement", Eddie's appearance at NAMM, the VH 25th anniversary, new interview in Guitar World, as well as an entire issue devoted to Eddie, basically my antipication for ANYTHING new to hear from Eddie and/or the whole band was at an all time high. But after seeing that picture, and hearing a bunch of people saying the same things about Eddie, how he was drunk off his ass, and basically blew off hundreds of his fans in person, really killed off any chance in my mind of hearing new Eddie Van Halen music for a long time. Even if Eddie has been shredding lately and practicing with Al, but still drinking at times, he could've at least held it together for a few hours to make a public appearance and only help his cause by talking to fans and showing that he's still the fucking man on the guitar. If he wants to make a comeback, that would be a logical step. But its obvious if he can't even do that, hes probably barely playing anymore, and hitting the bottle hard. If only Steve Luthaker's christmas cd came out a few months ago, so then we could've had at least some proof in Eddie's favor. Oh well. So for me, thats that. I'm going to stop holding my breath. Eddie and the guys had a golden opportunity to make a comeback, they're still not that old, and there's still a market for them. Lets remember Eddie and Van Halen for what they were able to give us, not how they failed us.

NAMM is a business event not a party. Showing up drunk is extremely unprofessional and a screaming sign that EVH is in a very sad and dark place in his life. Him being buzzed at public events was cute and funny 20 years ago, but now he just looks like a hard core alcoholic. And behaves like one too. Too all of you who think it's cool that EVH is continuing to drink, tell us how great it is when the man is no longer alive in a few years. To me, it's incredibly sad to watch such a talented person waste their life away to get 'fucked up.'

The guy needs help obviously. But can he actually perform any more? I'm not alcoholic but what does it it do to your body physically when you get older. he can't bounce back like he could twenty years ago after heavy binge drinking. I mean its one thing to play guitar drunk at 20 then try to play when your near 50.
"Well, he's an intelligent, well-read guy. But it's like he can't connect the dots somehow." (EVH Guitar World, March 1998).

GP: "Did you use a pick for "Spanish Fly"?

EVH: "Yeah, except for the part near the end that sounds like Montoya or something."

All this past tense stuff. They "were", "lets remember them for"... Nah. Ain't buyin it dude. So he may have been hammed. So what? He fucked up if he was. I doubt if peavy thought it was a shining moment in history for them, but fuck it. Lukather was afu'd a couple years ago there at namm too. He put out a christmas album this year. My goodness. How did he ever recover from being drunk one day at namm? And still manage to put out another album? Surely you see the point.
