    Default Donald Fagen

I never was into Steely Dan, but ever since I heard Fagen's tune "True Companion" from the Heavy Metal soundtrack, I've been interested in his solo stuff. "True Companion" has a very Pink Floyd-ish sound. Same thing with Don Felder's "Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)", which is also on that soundtrack and in that movie. Anyway, Fagen's only got three solo CDs out, and I started with his latest "Morph The Cat", and then his solo debut "The Nightfly". Both albums are excellent (but there's a track on "Morph The Cat" called "Brite Nitegown, which I needed to skip) And now I gotta get his 1993 release "Kamakiriad".

The Nightfly is one of those CLASSIC albums I NEVER get tired of. All of Don's solo albums are good stuff. If you like his stuff, you need to check out Walter Becker's solo album, 11 Tracks of Whack - killer stuff there, too..

My advice is to go for the alien abduction story. Look bemused, dishevelled and on the verge of tears as you recount your story of intrusive and degrading medical tests.
Worked for me anyway. I still have colleagues asking me what it is like to fuck a green womanoid with seventeen breasts.

    Nightfly is a classic release.
I've been listening to Morph the Cat for about two weeks now, I just happened upon it in the store...don't CD get marketed anymore?
Kamakiriad is an acquirred taste...meaning it may take a little longer to "get into."

BTW if you really like Morph you may want to check out Steely Dan's Two Against Nature and The Last Mall...these are their most recent releases...2000 & 2004...very similar to Morph.

donald fagen is a genius. steely dan is the greatest band (or duo if you will) to ever exist on this earth.

his new album Morph The Cat is just incredible and yes it was marketed on radio a bit and his tour didnt sell well because they put tickets up with hardly any time until the shows.

    amazing musician and writer.
also steely dan's last album is called everything must go, not the last mall....

    Sincerely, Pretzel LogicMan
