the way i see it, we are close; and when i say close i do not mean like within six months, i think by june 1st tops.

i saw mike for myself and heard him make reference the "new album".

my buddy told me about his friend seeing ed in toronto. my friend knows nothing of van halen like we do, why in the hell would he pick toronto of all cities to tell me where he is?

alex was supposedly seen in vegas.

and now...this whole dave "statement" as i will refer to it. even if it is something old/rehashed, etc., it could be that it was posted because someone had "heard" something is about to happen, or is going to be happening...and all it does is generate free publicity for the band...follow me?

and...lol...this "fernando" character at the pleasure dome. you mean to tell me brad will allow this guy (person) to post "?'s" all the time and take up board space but no one can say they think III is a bad album? gimme a break! some random van halen freak such as "fernando" (you can tell by how he always defends the band, etc) waited until an "official" message board was up to get into vh discussion on the net? what the hell is wrong with this site or the army, etc?? funny, cuz the night i saw mike anthony here in la quinta, no fernando post....hmmm...and if this guy is from mexico and "tries" to let us know he is from mexico by his writing, then how come he'll write these big 'ol thoughts about vh and have well-written english. fernando ain't fernando i don't know who it is, but i do not believe it is some random person from mexico.

    my thoughts?

    new album with dave

12-14 tracks (i think the thing is done, just mixing, etc)

bob rock producing (no, not TT)

some kind of statement from the band themselves bet may-june 1st.

just the way i see it. too many things point to something is going on. it can't stay quiet long....right fernando?

Sounds good to me. I'd like to see Van Halen with David Lee Roth in concert together sometime in my life-time. (BTW, Fernando is Fernando )

I'm not some random guy from Mexico.

That said, the idea of Bob Rock producing is an interesting, if random, one. What makes you think that, JMJ?

    mike L....

i just think they are gonna change some things this time round...hell; i could be way wrong but ah well.

they have not used TT in full force since the 84 album and only sparingly on "FUCK". they didn't even use him for best of...and, bob is out of toronto and ed was "supposedly" there, just a gut feeling really..besides the fact dave has worked with rock in the past. i think if TT was working with the guys then the recording would probably go a bit faster cuz they are all familiar with one another, if what dweezil said is true that they only have like 6 songs done or whatever it was.

i don't see this thing being an all-out "reunion" thing. by that, i mean i don't expect to see alex lighting his drums on fire, ed always playing a striped wolfie or wearing striped jumpsuits, etc....and i see that translating over to the recording process...i think things are gonna be abit different and i think "different" for the band right now is better than the familiar surroundings of 1984..i think it would do the band good....over ecent weeks, i am not sure legalities have so much to do with anything anymore...if that were the case, dweezil and others wouldn't say dave was in cuz they would never have been told. i just think they are takin their time, but i do think the album is done and rock is producing

Here's something to think about. Bob Rock is known as the kind of producer that really can re-invent the band he's working with. He did the Metallica Black album and brought them into the 90s ful force. He did similar things with Motley Crue on Dr. Feelgood. Van Halen may be using him to do the same.

Agreed. But I do believe they need a kick in the ass and Bob Rock might just be the man to do it.

Unless he's moved there recently, Bob Rock is based out of Vancouver, not Toronto.

Brett, maybe "re-invent" was the wrong word. When Metallica went to Bob Rock, Bob took their strengths and amplified them 1000x so the product was so fat and big and impressive that the band was put in a realy GOOD place as far as the rock community goes. Bob Rock really helped them make the absolute best album that they were capable of, at a time they really needed to do that. I'm just saying that Rock might be doing the same thing for Van Halen. They are in a position where they really need to have a HUGE masterpiece of an album — and Bob Rock has a rep for doing that.

I gotta go with Jape on this one. The man is known for squeezing every last drop of talent out of a band and putting it on record. These guys need to take their time and put out a freakin monster of a record, one that no one will forget.
