Well, I finally got round to purchasing and reading DLR's book, 'Crazy From The Heat', and I must say, I am absolutely floored. I've immediately gone back to the beginning to start again...
No matter how you feel about the band and it's various configurations, you owe it to yourself to read this book. So many things that I've always wondered about are answered. Brown M & Ms? That was always the most annoying thing I heard about the band and I always tried to ignore those stories. Wait till you read what the real purpose of the rider regarding brown M & Ms was about, and the proverbial light-bulb will suddenly go on. There are dozens of other gems, and the most interesting thing to me is that he spared the other guys from VH for the most part, only really digging his heels in to explain his role in the 1996 reunion fiasco.
Anyway, it is a great read from a well-read, educated, well-traveled experienced man and I recommend it highly.

I haven't read it in about 6 months - I think I'm going to have to go buy a copy for home.

Achievements:
The gospel according to Dave. Great book. I read mostly music biographies, and Crazy From the Heat is probably the most unique book of its kind. Dave is a wonderful storyteller; of course it's up to the reader to decide when Dave is embellishing things, but that's all part of the charm. I liked what he had to say about protecting the VH legend. I would have liked a little more about how certain songs came to be, or how albums were put together, but that's just not the type of book it is. You naturally gravitate to the chapters about Van Halen, but the rest of it is a very interesting read and a unique take on a unique life. And the best part is that you can tell to a 100% certainty that the book wasn't ghost written.

Miah- I'm almost for sure *audio* isn't available for Dave's book. However, Dave did mention putting this all on tape. If I remember, their was a thread here putting that to fact. None the less, when you close your eyes...imagine his words...It's Dave cinema!!

He did the first chapter in audio. It was released with "the Best" cd. I think. It is cool to hear his own words in his own voice.
I don't know if there are any plans to do the whole book or not.

Anyone know if that book comes on casette. You know, like an audio book? If so, I'm curious if Dave did the audio for it as well. Some authors do. Does anyone know who Al Franken is? He was on Saturday Night Live for a few years. He wrote a comedic politics book. I can't remember the title. Anyway, my friend borrowed it from the public library. It was an audio book. The cool thing is, Al Franken did the voice for it. Made it even funnier. I think Dave is one that having HIM read the book to you would make it even better.
