Did anyone see the Journey behind the music on VH1? I saw it the other day for the first time and it occured to me that Steve Perry had hip replacement surgery around the same time as Eddie. If Roth isnt back, perhaps its Steve Perry??? Maybe they bonded in rehab . At the end of the show, Steve wanted nothing more than to get back on the road. And Mike said the singer is someone well knowm. Perry certainly has the pipes but is he VH material??

Interesting thought, but I think we would have heard some rumours about this if it were true, and after following this saga for the last 16 months I don't remember hearing one serious rumor about Steve Perry. I like Journey, but to answer your question about Perry being VH material...NO!

If they come out of this silence with anyone but Dave, they are going to get crucified. And I'm sure they know that.

I would guess that most fans (even DLR era fans) would rather have Gary back than to have Steve Perry singing for Van Halen.

Steve Perry the next singer for Van Halen?
Are you high? Even the thought of that happening is a joke! I respect what Perry had done in Journey but leave it at that dude! Imagine Van Halen playing " Open Arms "?
    I DON'T THINK SO !!!

Maybe they hired Steve Perry but then realised that Dave was the only way. So then they had to sack Steve Perry and hire Dave and record another album. Could this be a plausible reason for the delay?

Nahh, I doubt Steve Perry's the next singer. But I'd never rule out the next singer being somebody Ed met in rehab! lol! That sounds like exactly the sort of thing Ed would do!

Hey, I read People magazine. If this is the case, forget Steve Perry, maybe the new singer is going to be Matthew Perry.

I read one of those interviews with Ed, he talked about how they opened for Journey and Journey treated them like shit, wouldn't let the do soundchecks, etc. By the end of the tour, VH was the main attraction. So I doubt Ed gives two shits about Steve Perry. He does have a hell of a voice though.

I agree that Steve Perry will not be considered as the new lead singer for Van Halen for the various reasons stated by others in this thread. I also would like to suggest that although Steve may have a great voice, his style is not like anything close to Van Halen's... Can you see Steve singing "Running With The Devil," or "Poundcake," or "Me Wise Magic?" I think not!

Sounds like pure speculation to me guys. I'm gonna send this to the Opinions/Speculation forum.
