FYI Tim-o-thy, the MOD for vh@yahoogroups.com , has put the entire list on moderated status. That means that no message can be posted to the list until he reads it.

This was done as a result of the list lynching Brad & the band for the past week(or longer).

* Ed is *not* suffering from his cancer, as far as I'm aware. The health issue I was mentioning, which has been confirmed to me in numerous pieces of email from people who should know is that Edward has started drinking fairly heavily again. Keep in mind that it's still just a rumor, but one that looks pretty reliable. For someone in his condition that seems like a terrible idea. It's not like we, as fans, have any control over what Ed does with his personal life, but it's a damn shame to hear this.
* Edward and Val have divorced. This one has been going around for a while, but it's looking like a fact. The rumor is that she sued for divorce back in February and is living in Utah full-time now with Wolf
* Alex is broke. He's lost his home and has moved into the other house up at Ed's compound. This would explain why he was allegedly trying to sell his publishing rights last year.
* Edward says that Van Halen is over. The reason they have no label, no management and no projects on the table is because they have no intention of working as a band again. Al and Ed are jamming a lot to keep their minds off things, but there is no plan for any of the stuff they're doing to become a Van Halen project. The indie label rumor about Ed selling unreleased material is just a rumor, too, apparently. There are no such plans.

I've just caught up with the mail I missed while my PC was busted for most
of the last month and after wading through the flaming and off-topic threads
right up to the show we saw here today I have moderated the entire list.
Nothing will post unless I approve it and it's gonna stay like that for a
day or two until I can get back here so we can all go over why this list is
designed to be different from the dozens of other Van Halen ML's on the net.

There are two rules here. All posts to the list must be on-topic and not
hostile. This is a place for the intelligent discussion of all things Van
Halen and nothing else.

Just let that soak in for awhile. I'll be back to fill out the details
shortly.

i don't buy the divorce thing at all. i'd bet there are at least three people that work at the LA county courthouse who are also on the payroll of one of the tabloid rags. we would have heard about a divorce by now.

These days (years ?), who knows anymore when to separate truth from fiction. I remember the post by Glenn or Brett about Ed selling the beach house in Malibu, out from under Val's brother. That, in terms of a source, was about as close as you can get to fact.

Last spring's pictures of the LAPD golf tourney, with Ed smoking, also came to mind while reading this.

I don't know the guy, but he's some kind of superfan. Somehow managed to hook up (competition winner) with VH for a month or so in Oz, NZ and Japan on the VH3 tour....he has met and hung out extensively with them from what I've read. I believe he "roomed" with Starks too...

As for "terrible"....I dunno, I'd rather he was an asshole than dying.

Yes, having been on the original Van Halen Mailing List (VHML) with Rex back in '94, I can vouch that Rex Jackson is fairly well plugged into the Van Halen community. Like Jonathan said, Rex is basically a superfan with no specific ties to VH. However, due to his VH3 tour trip, writing an article for The Inside, and some other adventures, he has made some contacts over the years. Back in the day, we would bait Val into providing us tidbits of info on the band. Don't take everything he says as fact (he is saying they are still rumor, himself ) but I would rely on his info over Brad's any day.
