I know Dave plays the guitar at the beginning of ICE CREAM MAN and THE FULL BUG. Just curious: does anyone know if he's playing the rhythm guitar in the left speaker for COULD THIS BE MAGIC? I think I remember reading that. Can anyone confirm this?

I'll 3rd that !!
I did hear DLR make reference to this in the interview he did with Jim Ladd. I forget which side DLR said he was on, I'd have to listen to the interview again, but its him.
By the way, this song is what I miss about Van Halen. Having fun, and being a lil silly, but making it a very unique musical experience.
Great tune !! It would be fun to see them do this with DLR at like an UNPLUGGED format or something.
(79th smacks himself in the head) Naw, they wouldnt do that.

I like the song although it had to grow on me first. Having two guitar parts really makes the song go.

Yeah it's Dave playing acoustic guitar. Nicolette Larson sang backing vocals on this song. Edward played on Nicolette's "Nicollette" album on the song "Can't Get Away From You". Thats not a bad song either...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

Nicolette was a pretty talented woman. Played a lot with Neil Young too.
Poor girl. She died in '97."I had a girl beating on my hotel door all night...She was screaming, crying. Finally, I said, 'What the hell'...and I let her out!"- DLR

She actually lived with Neil Young at one point, though very briefly.

Neil's had a few women in his life, though not as many as others. Have you heard her work on his COMES A TIME album? Quite nice. She fitted in extremely well with his more acoustic style. Awesome singer. I love her vocals on COULD THIS BE MAGIC?.

I do agree that with Leffler, Sammy would've stayed in the band. RD couldn't or wouldn't stop them from firing Sammy. But Ed & Al are still responsible for what happened, it was their decision.
