Van Halen in upcoming issue of Guitar World Magazine...

The new March 2003 issue of Guitar World Magazine, which should be out in most places right now, contains the great detailed history and story of Van Halen to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of VH's debut from Febuary 1978!!!
As well as to celebrate Eddie Van Halen being voted into the new Guitar World Hall of Fame!!
He was voted in by the readers by the way, which is most impressive considering this is 2003.

The issue contains a bunch of never before seen interviews and pictures from years ago that were compiled by Steve Rosen.
Steve was gonna do a book on Eddie but it never came to fruition. He still kept all the interviews and info. What you will read in this GW issue is a tremendous oral history of VH dating back to the earliest days of the band(in high school!) from the people who where there to witness it. This goes along with the never before seen interviews od Eddie.

Again, the issue should currently be out RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
By the way, GW issues are always one month ahead for those who may not know.

The issue also contains their annual "Reader's Poll" results. The magazine features the mighty ass kickin' Zakk Wylde and Dimebag Darrel on the cover with a pic of Eddie kinda hovering over them in the upper corner of the cover! It also contains some MAJOR news concerning Eddie from both Zakk & Dimebag.

Either way PICK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!

Mario, those poor bastards at Guitar World have been trying for over a YEAR to get Eddie to do an interview!! They have said so many times.
The editors at GW wanted to do an all VH issue, cover and all, dedicated to VH.
But in order to do that they wanted the band onboard to get the full history and to find out what the future holds. They wanted to do new interviews and not have to rely on past material.
But no one, specifically Eddie, is willing to talk yet?!?!
At least they landed a bunch of cool never before seen stuff to add onto the story and they are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the debut of one of the greatest bands/players ever. I'll take it for now. Especially since it will show all the new kiddies what VH was about.

I have come to the conclusion that Van Halen is finished. So I've been digging up bootlegs here and there - its the only thing a true enthusiast can do.

Yeah, I'd love to see Van Halen reform (with Dave), but there doesn't seem to be much else to do.

Just put a couple bucks down and buy the damn thing! lol...
GW is a great mag and you dont have to be a guitar player or musician to buy it.
I mean, do you have to be a pro athlete to buy Sport's Illustrated?

You celebrate a band's history, especially a 25th Anniversary, by going BACK! It's just how it's done. The dudes at GW very much want to do a new VH feature and find out what exactly has gone down in the last 5 years but Eddie isn't willing to talk yet. They been on EVH's ass for over a year and homeboy aint talkin'. When he is ready you best believe GW will stop the press and give that story top priority.

We should at least by happy that someone remembers this year marks the 25th Anniversary of one of the greatest bands/guitar players ever.
And from what I hear the oral history given in this issue is wicked. It includes never before released interview material so that is a bonus.
Plus it was very smart to hold it over till the March issue cuz this issue contains the Reader's Poll results. It is probably the most sought after issue every year, so the kids will be rushing out to buy it.
Add to that the feature on Zakk & Dimebag.
And from what I heard Zakk & Dime pay MAJOR respect to Eddie in this issue. Can't wait to see what they said.
And for those who are into guitar, the issue will also contain transcriptions to 3 VH tunes!
Including the most detailed transcription ever done of Eruption, a note by note breakdown.
