With his fourth-place finish in the Honda Indy 300 this past weekend in Australia, Kenny Brack gave Toyota just enough points to clinch the CART Manufacturer's Championship in the Japanese automaker's final season in Champ Car racing.

Toyota will build engines for the rival Indy Racing League next season.

With two races remaining, Toyota holds an insurmountable 45- point lead, 300-255, over Honda.

On the way to the Manufacturer's Championship, Toyota has won a series-high nine races to go with 11 pole positions.

The manufacturer also has led a series-leading 1,075 laps -- more than 50 percent of those run this season. Every Toyota-powered driver has earned at least one fourth-place finish or better this season.

"We're thrilled to win the CART Manufacturer's Championship against some fierce competition," Toyota vice president of motor sports Jim Aust said. "I can't say enough about all those involved in the effort -- everyone at Toyota, Toyota Racing Development (which is based in Costa Mesa) and our teams and drivers."

BRACK JAMS

It's time for Brack to stand on stage and grind his ax once again.

Brack will play lead guitar alongside Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony during Friday's CARA Charities Runway Madness Viva Las Vegas fund-raiser at the Ontario Convention Center, part of the festivities surrounding Sunday's CART race at California Speedway in Fontana.
