Why did my topic get closed??

I thought the topic was funny Ed. One thing I've noticed around here is that any attempt to open a humorous post will get shot down quickly. Then again, we all know that VH is a serious, politically correct band, so this makes sense. Use alot of these smiles. That seems to help.

Maybe it would be cool to have a section of the forum that is devoted to topics that are all related to VH in a homorous way? Not trying to turn the links into Comedy Central, I think the Mods all do a great job here, but I don't think any post should be closed that quickly! As Madden would say, go fuck yourself and peace out!! !!

Well, speaking from an objective point of view, topics that could really piss off people get shut down. Now that could be said about every thread but the moderators try and distinguish what could really start a flamer. I bet Brett gets an ass load of e-mails everyday about how "so and so said blah, blah, blah and it really hurt my feelings." I know I got and occasionally still get e-mails from posters bitching at me for a thread and about God knows what else.

I didn't think your thread was "too far" but I'd bet a lot of people out there would disagree with me about it.

Now if you want a place to make fun of stuff.... go to the Roth Romper Room in Army. There's a lot of offensive shit said in there and no one cares. In there we just let it roll.

I didn't think it was too bad, but the person that closed it might have read it differently.

Anyway, we're ok with humor here. I mean, everyone likes a good joke. I see a lot of lame attempts at humor over in the Rumor Mill. Crap like Michael Anthony bathing in ketchup. Some of it is funny, but a lot of it is just copy cat crap. I get a little jaded about those, just because they're tired.

As for a VH humor forum, my thoughts are that there isn't enough VH-specific humor out there to support it. The best humor here happens within somewhat serious topics, IMO.

i don't remember if i was the one who closed that thread.

it's pretty tough to weed through everything and be perfect about it.

my policy is simple: if you see something closed in this forum (Main VH Discussion) and a the consesus is that it should be re-opened, i will certainly look into it and take care of you guys.

if it's something that isn't really meant for this forum, then by all means you guys can take it up via email or in another forum.

bear in mind how crazy things get at a moment's notice around here. sometimes we close topics for the sake of brevity or for any number of other reasons.

sometimes it's just a good idea to clean house and try to keep things neat...
