NEWS - Report: David Lee Roth Back In Van Halen

(11/21/01, 10 a.m. ET) -- Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has reportedly said that the band will tour and release an album in the coming months with original frontman David Lee Roth. Anthony was at a store opening in Mesa, Arizona, on Saturday (November 17), and he was quoted as saying, "We are coming out with a new CD in the spring, but we will probably tour before it comes out." When asked who the singer is, he said, "Dave is going to do it this time. We are recording now," according to a post at the fan-run but highly reliable Van Halen News Desk (vhnd.com).
The Van Halen News Desk source, Rol from Rol's Guitars (rolsguitars.com), a well-known maker of Eddie Van Halen replica guitars, then wrote that Anthony also said, "We did a couple of songs, then the lawyers found out and everything stopped," in a post on the chatboard on Van Halen's official site (van-halen.com).

A spokesperson at Warner Bros. was unable to confirm or deny the story by press time, and the band's webmaster, who wasn't with Anthony when he allegedly made the statements, wrote "Mike didn't say the things he's being made out to say" before terminating the chat thread.

Where was this story posted? I will laugh if it came from a newspaper, but I bet there is no chance of that!

I work for some very large newspapers, and as of yet the VH story has not appeared...at least not in the LA Times or Chicago Tribune yet.

Doesn't the media learn their lesson after all the rumors that have happened within the last 2 years. Boy, if this turns up to be flase Launch.com are going to one of the biggest laughing stocks on the Internet.

Now I hope this is true don't ge me wrong but right now I am taking this with a grain of salt.

I do believe FULLBUGAZ and ROLS on what they heard.

Who knows what's going on? This is becoming worse than a soap opera.
