(5/6/02, 7 a.m. ET) -- Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth is preparing to hit the road with another ex-Van Halen vocalist, Sammy Hagar. Although Roth hasn't officially been part of Van Halen for years, he says he's still the band's occasional scapegoat.

"I am certain that at some point in the next year I'll be on the other side of the planet touring with Sam Hagar, and (Eddie Van Halen's wife, actress) Valerie (Bertinelli) will blame me for some stupid thing Eddie did, and when they discover it wasn't me, they will all point to the bass player," Roth says.

Van Halen's bassist--and scapegoat, according to Roth--is Michael Anthony. While Anthony, Alex Van Halen, and Eddie Van Halen continue to keep a low profile, their former vocalists kick off their joint tour May 29 at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Hmmm. What the hell is Dave getting at? Val will blame Dave for something Eddie did. When they find out Dave didn't do it they'll blame Mike. To me this means that both Dave and Mike know something and aren't supposed to say anything about it. That something is a stupid action by Eddie Van Halen according to Dave anyway.

Does this make sense?

Well, the way I see that is the failed reunion attempt as being what Dave would be blamed for. After that, I think it was Dave's sense of humor regarding Mikey being the easy scapegoat when there isn't another one, just like we all have kidded about it before as well knowing of course that Mike is the innocent bystander).

What is Dave doing? I don't understand his motivation for saying this stuff. Is he that bitter that they can't come to an agreement for a reunion? Hope he enjoys this tour with Sammy, because at the rate he is going, this will be his last hurrah. Or at least the last time anybody will care about him...

Unfortunately this doesn't surprise me. It falls in line with what Mike was saying yesterday.
This is a sad sad situation when you see your favorite band, which has sometimes even changed your life (I know it has changed mine), fall so low.

I hope next year will bring better news. And I hope Planet Us is as good as Mike says it is.
