I wasn't positive on where exactly to post this but I want to keep it VH related so I put it here.
How do kids that you see react to VH's music. From your own kids to neices, newphews and the kid on the street.
My 2 1/2 year old son LOVES songs like JUMP, PANAMA, TOP JIMMY, & the drum intro to HFT.
But he also loves CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU, AMSTERDAM, RIGHT NOW, AND BIG FAT MONEY.
I just was cranking 1984 while eating my Corn Flakes and (he has seen the video ALOT) JUMP came on and after the guitar solo and Ed is doing the keyboard "solo" my son was raising his arms and trying to do splits and shit that he saw Dave do in the video. Then when the intro to the song starts again, he yells the uhh-ohh-oh like he hase in the video but not on the album.
He also does his version of the "Sammy dance" (both hands down by his side and moves his torso back and forth).
I find it all very amusing and I could watch it all fucking day long. I now have BALANCE playing and he seems to be enjoying SEVENTH SEAL very much as well.'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

My 6 year old son loves Van Halen. I have even made a CD for him. It's about time to make another BTW.
I remember about 2 years ago, he was constantly asking to listen to VH whenever we got into the car. This pissed my wife off. Not that she doesn't like VH, but she felt a 4 year old shouldn't be listening to tons of VH. Which he/we were.

Very cool, though. My wife is the same way.
Which is very funny because she only likes a few songs (mostly Sammy era) from them. And she is from Pasadena as well and went to high school there in the early 80's.

Man, that sure sounds like a lot of fun! Rocking with your own son ( or daughter) to kick ass Van Halen music:
Never thought of that point of having a kid. You know, I´m only 23 years old, and WAY to young for having a baby, but these stories make me smile.
Keep rocking!

one day i'm walking up the stairs my 4 year old behind me and i hear got to bleed for it baby, and i turned to him and said what did you say cause i was not sure if that is what i heard and again he gos got to bleed for it baby, it brought a tear to my eye. so when i play vh the boys are there trying to sing the words and just having fun to vh.van halen shall return. what you think is nothing might be something after all.

well yes 6 year olds will like anything. when they turn 12 or so and start making up their own mind they all absolutely detest vh.
can't blame them, i used to hate disco and anything other than what was popular at that time.

My son was weaned on Van Halen songs, not Barney. He was screaming "Hey! Hey! Hey!" from "ATBL" before he was singing Sesame Street songs. His fave song from Hagar era is "Dreams", and he heard that one before it was featured in the Power Rangers movie. He's more of a Hagar fan, but still digs the Roth era material.
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

My little girl (she's 5) LOVES VH. Especially the "fun" stuff like Jump, Panama, and Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love. My wife and I are even taking her to see Dave and Sammy in Tampa on August 1st.

My five year old son loves to listen to Van Halen with me. He absolutely cracks up and loves the "Hey Man that suit is you" bit from Unchained. When that part of the song comes on he will repeat "C'mon Dave give me a break....." over and over just laughing. He loves it!

My almost 3-year old loves hearing songs with huge drum sounds. So, 'Hot For Teacher' is one of her favorites. Right now, I'm teaching her the lyrics to 'Cabo Wabo'. She cracks up when she says the name of the song. It's funny because the name of the song is kinda humorous.

My soon to be 4 year old is a huge VH/DLR fan. He wants it played in the car all the time.I now find him in a room turning on the stereo/radio and just sitting there and I will ask him "What are you doing?" he will just say " I am waiting for Van Halen to come on."
I also play the guitar(I have some pictures of EVH's guitars in my office) and I usually let him use my old strat, it is chipped, scratched and basically falling apart. Today I decided to take it apart and replace the hardware. He started crying and I told him that it will soon be brand new. He just says "I want to keep it dirty like the striped guitar"(I have a Frankie poster hanging up). Everyday he looks in my old magazines for EVH and screams "There he is!"

Someday if and when I have kids, I will defintely raise them right.
My parents were never into VH. My dad used to play his Who and Dead records when I was little, but mostly I listened to my own music when I was a kid. In kindergarten I was crazy about the New Kids on the Block! I also loved Paula Abdul. I think that's why I was completely blown away when I finally "discovered" VH when I was 16; I hadn't heard anything like it before and the way the guitar sounded just floored me.

She'll sing along to RWTD, YRGM, Jamie's Cryin' (though she thinks it's Baby's Cryin" ), Everybody Wants Some!!, Ice Cream Man (US Festival version) and HFT!
She does sometimes out of the blue, start singing HFT or Jamie's.
It does bring a tear to my eye sometimes--that's the coolest fuckin' thing!!
And for some reason, Sam does absolutely nothing for her
