*BTW--I found out who did that song on VH1, Quiet Riot. Interesting tidbit for those of you who don't know, the late Randy Rhoads, who played Guitar for Ozzy on "Blizzard" and "Diary" was the original Guitarist for that band*
Rock has changed, no denying it, in the last decade. A lot of new rock groups have appeared in the last while. Sum41, Staind, Nickelback( ), Treble Charger, Blink182 and Limp Bizkit*shudder* and more.
So my question is; if you were forced to choose one band to carry on with the same kind of music Van Halen used to write, who would it be? I agree none of these bands could ever compare to Van Halen, but I would choose Nickelback. They're more of a depressing sound, but they are nonetheless amazing.
What about you guys?

good old boys from hanna, alberta. that's close to me, so i'm a fan of them by default i guess...
but of all those bands, i would have to agree, notwithstanding the fact that they suck goat balls compared to van halen.

My vote would be for Collective Soul. They seem to be carrying the American Rock Banner pretty well. They even opened for the mighty VH in '95 on the Balance tour, so I'm sure some VH rubbed off on them.

My "vote" would have to go to Puddle of Mud. They originate from Kansas City
and have been around playing the local circuit for too long. Their older stuff is better IMHO, so to "make it", they had to sell out a little bit and make some more radio friendly "pop" tunes. Now that they get continous airplay, I would expect their following albums to inch closer to how they used to sound before they got popular. There is another local KC band that deserves to make it as well and they are called Venus Auto. Heard them at Rockfest a couple years ago and they blew me away. I expected them to skyrocket to the top, but I never heard anything about them ever again.

WOW!!! HOLYFUCKINGFUCK!!! What kind of Twilight Zone am I living in? What kind of Viagra-Testosterone mix are these 50 year old + guys on? I never thought I'd hear another Dave and Eddie album again. If I did, I thought it would be a mid-paced affair like the Rolling Stones or later day AC/DC. After the TATTOO single I was ready for a poppy album from old guys, with a few nods to harder rock (She's A Woman and Bullethead) and I would have been happy with that.
I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE GETTING A FULL-THROTTLE HARD ROCK, HEAVY METAL, BALLS TO THE WALL, FUCKING VAN HALEN THRASH METAL ALBUM!!!

Yeah QR (most likely their producer though) had a boner for Slade or something, they also used "Mama We're All Crazee Now" for their second album. I've always been partial to "Metal Health" myself. "Bang your head.....da da.....Metal Health will drive you mad!"

Godsmack or Sevendust. Godsmack are mean and heavier, and Sevendust are good but don't get as much credit. I guess I should also mention Fuel.

How about Sea Of Souls?
Check them out!www.facebook.com/revery
If you like cool, rock music, check out REVERY. We've put out two albums, and an EP. We were signed back in '06 and toured the US (our single Popstar Wedding was all over the radio back then). Our latest album, Adora De Phonic is available on Itunes, Amazon, etc.

I believe Slade wrote all two of Quiet Riot's hits. Remember when rock's biggest buffoon was Kevin Dubrow? How did Rhoades and Sarzo ever hook up with him?
