The Van Halens have a summer home in Port Jefferson- is NO ONE HOME AT 5150?

if the VH family is living on the east coast during the summer, does this suggest that EVH is in NY for more cancer treatment? We all pretty much agree that he looks 1000 times better off stage recently at Regis' show, but who the hell really knows?

I'm wondering if there are any Port Jefferson linkers that have seen Ed around. If he pops his head into any of the guitar shops, i'm bound to know about it because that couldn't be kept quiet for more than 2 seconds.

I'm a bit fearful that eddie's lying low and this whole cancer thing is worse than he's willing to publicly admit.

I still can't get over the fact that he was smoking at that charity golf event a few weeks ago.

In any case, it seems as though there's about 6 inches of dust on all of the unused equipment at 5150.

i think, if i am remembering correctly, the last time we saw alex was sometime after the split with cherone (or it may have been slightly before it) he was outside some building with shades and leather jacket on, checking out the lettering and lighting of some new building or something. i remember seeing it on the web somewhere but i cannot remember where?? Van Edge, I am not sure if you saw my first post, EVH at Clapton, but I live in Oakdale, about 20 minutes from Port Jeff. About 2 weeks ago my secretary, knowing that I am a huge Van Halen fan, tells me that her husband saw Ed in Port Jeff. I thought it was BS until Andrew confirmed that Ed is receiving cancer treatment on LI. My guess is that he is going to University Hosital at Stony Brook. She also commented that Ed is extremely thin, gaunt looking.

I did not hear that the Van Halens have a summer house in Port Jeff ? If you are going to vacation on the Island during the summer the Hamptons is the place to be even if you are trying to keep it a secret.

very true. that was my first reaction.
but then you have to consider that even when things are totally fine, the van halen family is pretty private and down to earth.
they are obviously quite wealthy, but they like their low-key privacy.

put it this way - there's no Port Jefferson magazine on NYC news stands like there is for the Hamptons, you know?

the hamptons gets news coverage and paparazzi in all the bathrooms. plus, they probably don't have much in the way of cancer treatment out there. better off to be closer to manhattan.

If the band is to embark on a massive reunion tour, ( I don't like calling it a "reunion tour" because it sounds like a 1 and done thing) so now I'll call it a "Return to Rock Tour".

Well getting back to what I was saying.
If they are going out on a massive tour, then I can see where Eddie wants to spend the summer with his family before being on the road for a year plus, or whatever the time will be.

He has battled cancer, had hip replacement surgery, lost his lead singer (again), fired management (thank God), and needed to put his band back together (again).

Now if thats not alot to handle in a year and a half, then I don't know what is.
Lets give the guy a break and just let him spend some quuiet time with his family because I don't see him dissapointing the fans when he is rested and ready to go full throttle.

I am not 100% on Daniels' dismissal, but it sure looks like it happend.

As for a Golf Mag to talk to, maybe there is a story on celebrity golfers or something, I don't know.

But hey, maybe Ed felt comfortable talking to this reporter and felt like saying what was going on with Van Halen.
