I thought people would be interested in the pics that someone posted up on the Metal Sludge message boards:

It's also interesting reading the comments that people are leaving about them -- they basically mirror the debate that's been going on here at Forums ("he looks awful" v. "he looks great given what he's been through"), and it sounds like most of them are not regular followers of the band.

but gotta remember that not all the people posting there would be Van Halen fans, so could more easily say negative stuff and not care either way about Ed, his music, and legacy. ie judging the book by the cover.

You could also say that if they're not Van Halen fans, it's easier for them to be objective about how Ed truly looks.

I can't get out to that at work. No games either.

I think a lot of the debate over Ed's appearance has to do with the fact that many people haven't seen him in quite a long time and still have this mental image of him from 1984 or something, so it's a shock when they see that he's aged. I really don't think that he looks that bad. He looks like a guy in his late 40s who's done a little more living than some others maybe, and the cancer of course, but he doesn't look any different to me now than he did when VH was out with III.

Just because he doesn't have that baby face grin on as much anymore, there's a few gray hairs, and horrors of horrors, he has some wrinkles! doesn't mean he's drinking, sober, or dying. He's just not doing the "Hollywood" thing and coloring his hair and doing Botox. Give him a break!
