I sure hope that Ed is not "overproducing" the new VH

Ed has a history of "overproducing" -- As you may recall VH needed Ted Templeman to get the F.U.C.K. album out. If not for Ted, Ed and Andy Johns might still be working on the mix. Likewise, in addition to its many other flaws, VH III was so overproduced that it sounded flat and plastic.

The great thing about the classic VH is the live feel that was captured. Listen to VH through Fair Warning and it sounds like the guys just hit the studio, played the fucking songs live, and drank a few beers while checking the mix.

So somebody should tell Ed to just get us our damn VH, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In an interview, Eddie acknowledged he screwed the production of VH3 over.

With this in mind, here's to hoping he learned from his mistake.

(And brought in Templeman to help )

Unless its Templeman, there probably is no outside producer. Its probably just good ole' Ed, otherwise we would probably have heard about whoever is producing it.
