Default Van Halen Songs Never Played Live

As far as I can tell, the only Dave era songs never played live are In a Simple Rhyme, Could This Be Magic, Fools, Dirty Movies, Push Comes to Shove, Big Bad Bill, Top Jimmy, and Drop Dead Legs. And of course, Me Wise Magic and CGTSNM.

I've heard Rhyme was played, but to date can't find any evidence of this...(anybody got an MP3 of Rhyme live, you'd be doing me a solid by zipping it my way).

But what about the Sam era songs never played live? Inside, Apolitical Blues, Crossing Over. What others?

I have a boot or two of them playing it in their club days, if you count that.

They played A Apolitical Blues at the Dallas free show in '91, but I'm not sure if it was the entire song.

    STUDIO TRACKS NEVER PLAYED LIVE

The following is a short list of album tracks that have never been performed live during their "touring years" (1978-present). All other songs have been played in concert in one form or another.
    • Could This Be Magic? (Women and Children First, 1980)
    • "Dirty Movies" (Fair Warning, 1981)
    • Push Comes To Shove (Fair Warning, 1981) *
    • One Foot Out the Door (Fair Warning, 1981)
    • Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now) (Diver Down, 1982)
    • Top Jimmy (1984, 1984) * *
    • Drop Dead Legs (1984, 1984) * *
    • Inside (5150, 1986)
    • Feels So Good (OU812, 1988)
    • Strung Out (Balance, 1995)
    • Doin' Time (Balance, 1995) * * *
    • Baluchitherium (Balance, 1995)
    • Crossing Over (Balance [Japanese version], 1995)
    • Can't Get This Stuff No More (Best Of Volume 1)
    • Me Wise Magic (Best Of Volume 1)
    • Neworld (III, 1998)
    • From Afar (III, 1998)
    • Once (III, 1998)
    • Primary (III, 1998)
    • Ballot or the Bullet (III, 1998)
    * Rumored to have been played on the '81 tour, but never confirmed.
    * * Rumored to have been played early in the '84 tour, but never confirmed.
    * * * It can be argued that Doin' Time is a variation on Alex's Latin-flavored drum solos played during the last three 1990's tours.

Feels so Good? Is that accurate? Seems like I heard that on the Ou812 tour, but memory's foggy in my old age.

I'm pretty sure they played that when I saw them in '88.

Assuming this is true...Man, IMO It's really sad they haven't played "Dirty Movies" or "Drop Dead Legs" live (not just soundcheck)

    Those tunes rock...

I'm pretty sure I remember them playing that during soundcheck on an MTV special to kick off the Balance tour? But maybe not?

I agree. That's the only one on that list I have to argue with.

    Wellwellwell

I believe to my soul that sometimes durin' the intro to Ice Cream Man in 2003, Diamond Dave would play a lil' bit of,"Could This Be Magic?"...natch'lly, everyone started whoopin' and hollerin'...and I heard rumblings that there are recordings of shows in 1994 when Roth would be mackin' some red hot mama in the front row and his band would be jammin' on,"Drop Dead Legs."
ASHES TO ASHES...DUST TO DUST...IF THE WOMEN DON'T GET YA, THE WHISKEY MUST!!...

"I used to play the blues alone in all the local joints," he explained. 'The only thing that I can really play on guitar to this day is the blues. I heard Doc Watson and his son playing 15 years ago, and from there I got into Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker."--DLR

If I had one biscuit, and sam hagar hadn't eaten nothin' in a month, I'd break it in two and eat both pieces.--Loons, celebrating Van Halen with David Lee Roth ONLY !!!
