I have not purchased them yet, and probably won't for a while.

Any new surprises in the liner notes to those of you who did buy them?

There are four pics (one of each guy) in the liner notes of the VH 1 LP that weren't in the original CD. They are in the remastered CD, and they are in color, whereas they were black and white in the LP.

The poster of Dave that was in the WACF LP is in the CD artwork, but it's only about 5 inches by 8 inches.

There was a collage of pictures in the Diver Down LP that wasn't on the original CD, but it's there in the new CD.

Gee, Glenn, if your Van Halen inner sleeve is in black and white - you got ripped off! Better get back to those used vinyl stores and find the real one! But I don't suppose they were nice enough to print the pictures from Diver Down in colour? Also, how are the remasters differentiated from the original CDs when you're browsing the record store?

The Diver Down collage is black and white.

The remastered cd's have a brown strip that says "warner Remasters" on the left side. It's actually the under tray that you can see through the little clear window. And the writing on the sides (the title) is slightly different.

Dude, were the VH 1 pics in color, or are you just pulling my good leg?

Glenn, I think they ARE in color! I gotta go home and check. I have Van Halen on Vinyl and I coulda SWORN my pictures on the inside are in color.

I got the record from my neighbor who actually bought it in 1978! So it's an original pressing I think. One of my prized possessions!

I've got mine in front of me, and they are definately black and white.

Dude, check the 1984 liner notes under I'll Wait. It shows co-written by Michael McDonald. I just posted in the Main forum thread.

Yep, they are in colour - at least apparently for some of us! As for the Michael McDonald - that's interesting. I remember a while back we were talking about one of the publishing sites and people were looking up Van Halen songs and I posted a bunch of errors, one of which was Michael McDonald being listed as co-writer of one of the songs. Are the 1984 songs also not credited to Michael Anthony, as on Best Of Volume 1?. If not, must be a story there that's waiting to come out...

Billy, except for I'll Wait, all the 1984 songs are credited to Ed, Al, Dave and Mike. So Mikey's back.

Glenn (Gloda) - I just saw your post in Main where you say the encyclopaedia has the story on this? Care to synopsise?

Are you talking about the story of Michael McDonald co-writing I'll Wait? It's not in the VHE, it's just a story that was always around that MM had co-written it. He had worked with Ted Templeman before, so I'd assume that's how he got together with Eddie to compose I'll Wait.

My VH album inner sleeve is also in color. Very strange. Do you thing that maybe additional pressings of the album were done with black and white inner sleeves?

Anyone else take a look at theirs?

What about 'VHII', 'Fair Warning' and '1984'?

Are the liner notes (pics) the same as the original CDs?

I was actually hoping that they'd print the lyrics out.

How about the back of the CD case? Does it have the original pictures of what was at the back of the LPs?

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>VH II liner notes have the pics of the guys (Dave with the nurses etc) except they are bigger and in color in the new one. The Fair Warning liner notes are virtually identical to the old CD. The 1984 liner notes are again virtually identical.

The back of the CD's are the same as the LP's except the 1984 pic is not the full back of the CD case, whereas it was the full back of the LP. On WACF the pic is small and off to the side.

Hey Glenn, I have a framed "Van Halen" LP over my couch, and those pics are DEFINITELY in color. Maybe different release in Canada?
