Now that Mike's working with Sam, and Dave doesn't look to be recording with Ed....Now's the time for Ed to record a "solo" record/project whatever you wanna call it. Maybe he'll hook up with a singer, a bass player, maybe get Al on drums.....hell I don't know, I guess he just wants to play golf! Does he even want to play music anymore? Who knows...???

I'm sure he stil wants to make music. I mean, the guy just recovered from CANCER. Give him a break. He's probably foolin' around on his piano as we speak. He'll always be making music, wether we hear it or not is in question.

In all likelihood, in 5 years people will still be sitting here asking what the fuck Eddie's doing and probably some sheep will still be saying "Dude, he just fuckin had CANCER 7 years ago, give him a break"

This from a man who signed up here 2 years ago to wish Eddie Van Halen a Happy Birthday.

FORD, you act like cancer is the equivilent of having a zit on your nose. Well it's not! I think Eddie got scared after he found out he had cancer. He probably realized that the next Van Halen album was the last thing for him to worry about. Imagine having a 9 year old son who has probably not see you 2 straight years becasue you're constantly living for the band. You're in between albums, and BAM, someone tells you that you have cancer!!! What are you gonna do?? Head up to 5150, call Dave and get an album put together and a tour which would be a 2 year deal? Fuck no your not! You're going to do just what Eddie is probably doing right now! Being a father to his son. Eddie is taking him to school, helping him with his homework, tucking him into bed, reading a story to him. He's finally got a chance to be a father and we should let him. It's all about priorities man and believe it or not, the next Van Halen album is not a priority. The man has a life outside of music and you have to respect that.

I know for me, nothing is more important than my family and my friends becasue without them, you have nothing.

I think Ed already had a "solo" release, with Cherone.

I got no problem, myself, with Ed taking some time to be with his family. That is awesome and respectable. He should..... I think the frustration lies in not letting the fans know whats up, at all. Let's face it, we have had no news at all, other than what we can gather from various sources.

I still think Ed's next project will be the band Van Halen. It will be the original lineup. And, it will be when Ed is ready.

Then again, what the hell do I know.

Ed? Who's Ed? o yeah... him... He probably figured out that he's making $125 off of each Wolfgang sold (true story). So he decided the hell with a musical future, sell his guitars...

Uhhmmmm! One thing is certain! If Eddie was ready to make music (while DLR may be fucking around doing his own thing) Mikey would not be fucking around with Sammy doing "super band" shit. Mikey would have his ass at the 5150 camp, fully engaged in the creative process of making music... "Right now" Eddie has no plans making music.

You know, I'm sure everybody would love to quit their jobs and just stay home and look after their kids. Unfortunately, only the rich can do that. I don't think it's so bloody noble that he's just sitting at home. Normal people can't do that. He's done no work for years. Let him look after his son, but let him also get a job!

TT, that was a great post.

No one is using cancer as an excuse for not playing, because there's no need for an excuse at all.

The reasonable people on this board are pissed because Van Halen doesn't keep their fans apprised of anything. If VH issued a release that said, "We're not getting back with Roth under any circumstances, and the band is taking a year off to pursue other projects", we'd all be disappointed, but at least the mystery would be over.

Part of me would be happy that Ed discovered some other joy in life that was strong enough to keep him away from music.

So, anyways, FORD, at least you got to mention the term "sheep" again. I was excited, as I've been keeping score at home.

Fair enough, but that was also the first I heard of the site, and also before Eddie decided he would rather be a bitter old man than make the best music of his life again.

FORD, you act like cancer is the equivilent of having a zit on your nose. Well it's not! I think Eddie got scared after he found out he had cancer. He probably realized that the next Van Halen album was the last thing for him to worry about.

OK, before anyone else takes my sarcastic comment completely out of context, it wasn't about Ed having cancer as much as it was the sheep using that as an all purpose excuse for everything. Eddie, through himself, his bandmates, his wife, etc. has issued several public statements saying that he is "fine" and expects his doctor to say he's cancer free. From my knowledge of the subject, the "cancer free" diagnosis is not something that comes at the end of chemo treatments, but is actually the fact that a reasonable amount of time has passed without any reoccurence of cancer. I'm no doctor, and neither is anyone else here to my knowledge. But this is the reality of the situation, as far as I know. At this point, I do not believe Eddie's health is the reason for inactivity.

It's all about priorities man and believe it or not, the next Van Halen album is not a priority. The man has a life outside of music and you have to respect that.

I believe I have made my position very clear on that in the past. As a matter of fact, what I said exactly, was that the very reason Valerie went back to work (on her sappy assed Angel show)was that Ed is healthy enough to take care of himself and Wolfie. I did not fault the man at all for taking the summer off to spend with his kid. Given a supposed brush with death, anybody would have done the same. However, summer is over, Wolfie is back in school, Val's TV show should be filmed for the year, and now the questions remain: Why isn't Eddie in the studio with Dave, Mikey, and Alex? Why is Mikey working with Guns N Cheeses? Why is Eddie letting what's left of his career rot away?

I know for me, nothing is more important than my family and my friends becasue without them, you have nothing.

FORD, get cho head out cho ass man!

My head's not in my ass. Eddie's done the family thing, and that's a good thing. But now he needs to get back to being Eddie Van Halen.

As someone who saw his uncle die three days ago from cancer, my uncle would have traded all his successes in the world to spend just a few more days with his family if he knew he was going to die of cancer. It's a terrible awful disease and it destroys families. Ed had cancer, if he lives, he'll still be a cancer survivor and definitely living on borrowed time. I don't think a lot of you get that, in fact I know you don't! Just because he survived now, doesn't mean he's gonna be around in five years to play "Eruption" for you. Ed doesn't want to die before his child is even in his teens without spending time any time with him, and for the first 7 years of Wolf's life, that' all Ed did. Record, tour, record, tour, record, tour. This whole cancer thing hits so close to home now, I can completely see where Ed's priorities lie, in the right fucking place for a man who had cancer. You do realize what the fuck cancer is right? I really am questioning that.

Furthermore, the petty jealousy some of you have towards Ed is despicable, just deplorable. You should be fucking ashamed. Ed has EARNED the right not to work. He made it, fucking live with it you jealous idiots. What you think his talent just fell in his lap? He worked for years as a guitar player, and a musician, locked himself in his room to become what he is. He certainly has more dedication to his craft than any of us, and that's why he's Eddie Van Halen, and you're a bunch of whiny bitches. Furthermore, the band toured non stop for nearly 20 years, that's fucking work. Obviously the perks of being a rock star are awesome, but it is work you fools. Going from town to town on buses, getting amped up to play every single night, whether you're sick, tired, drunk, sober. It's work. And the reason most of us aren't famous who play instruments is not because we aren't talented enough, it's because we don't have the same work ethic. Bitch and moan all you want that I'm wrong (if you can actually convince yourselves), but I've played for a long time in lots of bands, and I know the truth.

FORD, you don't fucking get it man, you just don't. Have you ever had anyone in your family die of cancer? Can you relate at all? Obviously by your silly comments, you can't. This is actually so interesting now that I watched a very close family die of cancer this last year (mouth cancer coincidentally, and my uncle didn't smoke or drink), I can so see Ed's side of things and how family always comes first when you're living on borrowed time. And he is living on borrowed time, BELIEVE ME!

I am upset that Van Halen hasn't said anything about the band for a long time. When Eddie decides to say what's happened and what is gonna happen, most of us will be understanding (except FORD and his twin DLR's Cock). Cancer is not anything to joke about. Cancer threats are nothing to joke about!
Being with family is the most important thing in life.... FORD : maybe Eddie made his own decision to be private for a while and be with his family regardless of what Val is doing. He is a MAN (not a lying dutchman)...so if you want to act like a total idiot, then do so....but you might regret your sheepness and cockfordness when Van Halen blows us away and comes out with a new album and tour and all you can do is crawl in your insulting corner and be ashamed of all you said about how BAD Eddie and Alex Van Halen is. You are just a jealous turd that wishes you were a millionth of important as EVH and AVH are.

OUT!
Just go for it!

I wish Van Halen would talk to the fans too, I am as frustrated as all of you, but fuck, if Ed doesn't want to tell us he is scared about not being there for his son, that's his own damn business.

If you're a DLR fan, you have a lot to look forward to. Another tour of only VH covers and some shitty techno, awful, whatever crap that may come out on a DVD, or a CD. Whatever.... Personally, I'd rather see Dave retire.
