It's A Shame

It's a real shame that the Links have seemingly sunk to the Pleasure Dome status the last few weeks. I've been here for a good 2 years and the fact that there was little "Sammy vs Dave" bullshit is what impressed me the most. Now, it's just a bunch of "all you dave fans are...." and "all you Sammy fans are...." blah blah.

Fuck, I remember arguing about Sammy vs Dave 10 years ago. It's simple, none of you will change the others' mind!! It took me a while to realize that, and i hope most of you get it......SOON!!!!

By the way, i know, if i don't like it, then get the fuck out, right??

Most of these people live through their internet, so they can say whatever without worrying about ever meeting the person face to face. What surprises me is that some of those who whine like little babies have kids of their own, which is like a case of a child raising a child.

People are passionate about this band, and want them to succeed with the singer they think is best. So this debate will go on forever. But if VH makes kick ass rock, in the end, who cares who the singer is?

It will not stop which is a shame. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I like both eras equally. Sometimes I'm more into the Dave stuff and other times I'm more into the Sam stuff. Bottom line is that it's great music.

The Daveheads say Sam ruined Van Halen. I've got news for you: Ed writes the music. Don't blame Sam for the new direction VH took after 1984. The Redheads say Van Halen so much better with Sam. In my opinion, it wasn't better (or worse) just different. Van Halen evolved more with Sam and they rocked a little more with Dave. SO WHAT?!?!?

Daveheads, bands evolve and grow up. Look at the Beatles - from "She Loves You" to "Let it Be" in 6 years! Redheads, Ed's guitar playing (save for Balance which is a great CD) was somewhat stale when Sam was in the band.

The bottom line is very few fans of Van Halen got to be fans due to whatever singer happened to be fronting the group. We got there because of the music, the sound, the power, etc.

I'm not naive enough to think this will stop the Sam vs. Dave crap (and yes, I do have an opinion) but we are all here for VAN HALEN. If you want to pine for Roth, go to http://www.rotharmy.com. If you want to moan about Sam, go to http://www.redrocker.com.

I think of it like this, if I were Ed or Al reading these posts (and rest assured, they do) seeing how much of it is negative, I wouldn't say shit on my official website either. Not to say that we should be damned for voicing out opinions, I am just as guilty as anyone. That's just how I would look at it from their end.
